Re: hobies
I used to go shooting in a local club. Our friend got me and Mr geekybat into it. It was an air-rifle club. I was mean shot with a springer lol! I've not done it for a few years but it's something I'd like to get back into as I really enjoyed it.weskers toyboy wrote:so whats your hobies ?

I've also tried Archery, but wasn't too good at that. But Mr geekybat is talking about getting back into that as there is club local to us (we just moved house).
Re: hobies
Many hobbies over the years. I used to fish and shoot, but that was a long time ago.
Music (listening/collecting/gigs - I have zero musical talent), reading and photography. I game, but it has been MMORPGs for the past 10 years or so now.

Re: hobies
My fishing and shooting days were over 25 years ago. I was just a corse fisherman, local canals and reservoirs with the odd trip further afield for piking or tenching. Biggest pike was around 35lb I think, local canals produced some great fishing with carp around 3-4lb using 18s and 1lb line I used to love fishing for tench, 8lb was about my best, but they were just a challenge and great fighters.
Shooting was a mix of target and clays. Target was my favourite, I even got shoot at Bisley once as well as army cadet stuff. Mostly .22 rifles, but also air rifles and pistols. Cadet stuff was the old .303 Lee Enfields mostly, target range to 500 yards on open sights was challenging
These days I only shoot with a camera! Pretty much anything which takes my fancy - except weddings, I've sworn off wedding photography except as a casual by-stander. Formal wedding work just does not suit me, I work better on my own timescale shooting what I find rather than all that formal posed stuff

Re: hobies
thats some amazing tench and pike,im a useless pike fisherman lol i fished for pike like a 100 times i caught a little jack about 3 pound and 1 about 12,nice fish but pretty pittyfull the amout i tried to catch them, and never realy caught tench i used bait they most likley would not eat so i could catch the carp i found them a hinderance ,but 8 1b wow what a great fish and same for the pike, id love to catch one that big it must have been an amazing fightHanSpan's-Man wrote:My fishing and shooting days were over 25 years ago. The one I went to wasn't, there were a few but they seemed quite mature for teenagers . The people were nice too, decent sorts. Only way is to try.
Never been to a shotgun club, my friend has one and goes shooting in the farms. The farmers love him hehe.
Been to a few clays, enjoyed it but my shoulder was killing me afterward

Re: hobies
To be honest I'd avoid a bridezilla like the plague too!
I play the piano (badly), do scrapbooking (not very often), paint my nails (obviously), get drunk (on the cheap) and I'm just learning a little bit about photography

I paint my nails, like going to the theatre, scrapbook only occassionally these days,(though I have tons of stuff filling up cupboards and drawers to do it with ) and I do love my camera, though I'm not great at using it :)And the kids and DH are sick of having their photos taken...
Apparently high end weddings are best avoided at all costs !

Re: hobies
I was anticipating a 'pint and a punch up' wedding (as most of the local scaffolding fraternity were present) but was disappointed at the lack of punch up. Plenty of pints though......
Apart from the nails, I enjoy the Cub/Scout thing, it works for me and the children!

Do you ever go away with scouts Loola? My youngest went away a lot with Brownies but she's not so keen on camping with Guides!

Re: hobies
I'm doing my first long weekend with them at the end of September Sue, we're glamping though, at PGL. I'm quite looking forward to it as the leaders get on really well together and three of my children are coming too.SueD wrote:Do you ever go away with scouts Loola? My son camps with the Scoots quite a bit and I pop in to visit (and take a few treats) some evenings when they're local. We're a bit limited in our section as only one leader in the group has an overnight warrant and he works nights a lot of the time.

Re: hobies
I have a very short attention span I think, so many hobbies haven't lasted long. The only things that I never seem to totally lose interest in are the TV and reading.
I've enjoyed the theatre on and off, and concerts when the mood takes me. Nail painting for patches then lost interest - I've no idea how long it will last this time. Several years of soap making and several of gardening - both of which I seem to have lost interest in. Decorating too - I had a long spell where I really enjoyed painting the walls and so on.
Never fishing though - I just don't get fishing. And nothing that even vaguely resembles excercise. Oh apart from line dancing when they had classes in the hall just down the road, I could be temped by that again if there was anything close.
