Oh god oh god oh god
I've just razored my pinkie finger right now the middle I have no idea how. I was just shaving my legs when BAM! Razor + fingernail contact happened. It's about a cm long (which on my pinkie means a good third of it).
I've teabagged it (lol) three times over and wrapped a plaster around it - carefully, so none of the 'sticky' bit is on the nail at all - but it feels really tender and like the plaster is pulling on it.
What can I do to make it grow superfast? Anything special I can eat/drink? Long shot I guess but you never know. My job is very very hands on and now I'm terrified I'll get into work and rip half my nail off

Do you mean the razor has sliced the nail vertically?

I wish I had the answer kissme. My teeth are on edge reading this and I feel your pain. Have you sliced right through the nail to the flesh underneath?

All you can do is cut it as short as possible and keep it covered until it grows out. Teabag + superglue should protect it well enough. Use the rim of the teabag rather than the thin middle bit, it's thicker and the patch will last much longer.

Owowowowowow. Feel a bit sicky having read that.
VERY large G&T and cut/file it down as far a you can so it doesn't catch on anything then teabag & superglue, then ridge filling topcoat and buff it a bit to try and make it as smooth as possible - again so it doesnt catch.
then more G&T.
Ugh. I'd have shrieked too.
Oh & take to waxing, an electric razor or leaving the legs wild and wooly for the winter

I don't normally drink on a work night but two glasses of rose wine helped ease the pain!HanSpan wrote:

I'm planning to keep it covered with a plaster for at least a week to see how it goes, I'll then file it down a bit I guess and repeat. Sigh.
Loola, I don't *think* I cut the nail bed, it bled a little but not for long - about 3 minutes and that was because I was freaking out and touching up, once I'd washed it and calmed down a bit it wasn't bleeding at all and there's no blood under the nail. My dad joked tonight that it'll turn black and fall of

How's your poor finger doing kissmenow? I hope it's healing well and that the nail is growing out quickly.

Re: Oh god oh god oh god
Nearly a month later and it's still split, but not too much any more - I've taken all the teabandage off and have trimmed it right now so there's just a 2/3mm split in the top now, but still too much to trim all the split off completely :/ Past caring now I think, I get bored easily
Re: Oh god oh god oh god
Catching up now and it was all a very intense read! Glad to hear things have calmed down and it lasted all this time. You must have a great technique when it comes to teabagging
Re: Oh god oh god oh god
I got fed up with patching the splits on my thumb nail so I tried to file them away this morning. My nail feels really short now though.

Yeah, but it is really short though. It's not quite level with the top of my thumb.Nail Luxxe wrote:The first couple of days after filing down always feels so weird

Oh
Put on a few of your favourite nail varnishes over the next week or so to distract you from it.
