It seems that many of our members are gorgeous hip and trendy young things who don't (yet!) have any small people. I'd hate to bore the arse off them with our offspring antics so I thought we should have our own thread, just for mums.

I know Sue D's a Mum, but who else fits polishing in around their mini mes?! Very Happy

I'm more of a Bummy Mummy.......!
End of term was good Sue, eldest son held it together well and didn't get upset at leaving primary at all, there was a lot of running around with end of term stuff but now the dust has settled we're well and truly in the swing of the relaxed summer holiday. I'm determined to make the most of it as in September they all move up a slot - number one son to secondary, his sister from yr 5 to 6 (roooooole the schooooool, complete with secondary entrance tests), other daughter goes from infants to Juniors, son number 2 starts primary and son number three starts Playschool (only a couple of mornings a week). Phew, I don't expect my bum will touch the sofa much when that all starts!

How are yours faring in the hols?

I've got 5 and 7 year old boys. Full of life and energy that I can't keep up with!!! The 7 year old is currently eating his jaffa cake in such a way that he is just left with the slither of orange jam!!!!!! The 5 year old is practicing his burps!!!! Lovely. They will be going into Year 1 and Year 3. Can't believe how quick they are growing up.
Loola that sounds like its going to be some school run you are going to have.

They seem to be enjoying the hols so far Smile I still have to work but they're old enough to stay at home if they want or they often go to my mum & dad's,10 minutes walk away Smile Youngest seems to be on social streak, cinema today, cinema on Monday ,bowling party on Wednesday and a sleepover on Friday Shocked I put a few pink streaks in her hair last weekend Smile She has wanted a full head of pink for a while but my eldest was horrified at the thought her turning up at school with pink hair (she is a stickler for the rules!) So we settled for semi permanent streaks for the summer holidays instead. I'm hoping they do wash out more over the next few weeks or I'll be re-colouring the pink bits...

Backhoe, yours sound like a great laugh Very Happy I'm ashamed to say I still do that with a Jaffa Cake now.......
I'll survive the school run somehow, I'm plonking the eldest on the bus. I've also got into the habit of keeping handcream and cuticle oil in the car so that I can fill any spare minutes whilst I'm sat waiting around for them!
Sue, I love the sound of the streaks - quite fancy some myself some days! It's nice that they like to go to see their Grandparents too. Mine only have one Grandad left, and he's not within walking distance.
I had a funny flip today and decided whilst I was in Accessorize that I was going to get my 10 year old's ears pierced. She's been asking for ages, and I said that she could have them done next year, before secondary.
All of a sudden I just lost it and within minutes we were in Claires, ears complete with holes. I don't know who was more surprised, her or me! They do look lovely though, and with her being so teeny tiny it gives her a bit of grown up-ness.

If it doesn't wash out, use head and shoulders original formula for a few days, that washes any type of colour out of your hair.

Or washing up liquid. Not as pleasant but it gets colour out.

Blimey Sue. Wouldn't want to be in your shoes right now (although give it a few years and I will be.....!).
Is she staying on for 6th Form or heading off to College?
I think it's a horrid time for children, they're expected to make decisions that have a sizeable impact on their future and they have so little life experience to base any decisions on. And they think they know best - I know I deliberately poo poohed any of my Mum's suggestions simply because it was the first time in my life when I could decide stuff about me and I wanted to let my parents to feel that I wasn't reliant on them any more. I therefore made irrational, fairly stupid decisions. I ended up having to pay to go back to study a bit later in life.
I never really knew what I wanted to do but had I taken Mum's advice I'm sure I'd have been happier and would have had a direction to head in instead of bumbling along trying this and that until I landed by accident in the world of construction!
I hope she gets the results she's after, but I reckon with you behind her she'll be fine Very Happy

Aw Loola, thank you Smile I just want her to end up doing something she loves or enjoys and not be stuck doing a dead end job and regret not doing the whole 'following her dreams' thing. At her age I had left school and was on a training scheme in John Lewis...
Depending on her results, she is staying on at sixth form to do four A levels.I'm sure she'll be fine. She gets good grades but she does work her butt off for them so she deserves to do well.
I will report back tomorrow !

To be fair my GCSE results were a bit shit, straight C's except a B, an A and an A* that I got at college 2 years after! I made up for it with my A level results though, I turned into a right nerd when I went to college Very Happy

And that article... hahaha so true

I have just made a huge crumble topped marble cake to either celebrate or commiserate! We also have pressies and a surprise meal booked for the evening Smile Three of her friends came round for about 3hrs earlier unexoectedly which I think distracted her from worrying for a bit ,plus we got her 'official' prom photos through from my friend today Smile
