Seiche Vite

Post  shoppingaddict on Fri Oct 05, 2012 6:44 pm

I've decided that I really don't like this top coat anymore. The tip shrinkage is awful! Never really noticed it before but the last couple of mani's I really have.

Am deffo going to stick with Sally Hansen insta dri from now on....

I felt like that, but I have never found anything which does the same job. People go on about this HK Girl topcoat, which looks fabby, but its $7 a go, and a massive bottle of Seche Vite was £14.

I tried to use a Barry M top coat the other week which was supposed to be fast drying and I got sheet marks. I was not a happy girl.

I've never used Seche Vite before and tend to just use whatever is to hand - I've got a No7 one which I got for about £2.00 with a Boots No7 voucher a while ago.

I don't always use topcoat to be honest. Embarassed

I think you will find this with most 'Quick Dry' top coats. They must have something in them that extracts the moisture in the polish hence making them dry quick and that is why they shrink Embarassed

Yeah I got a huge bottle of Seche Vite for £14 but I also think I'm falling out of love with it Sad it's so shiny and fast drying but the tip-wear does my nut.

Have to admit i'm also looking for a seche vite alternative now. I've gone off the way it makes my nails feel and the way it shrinks a lot of polishes.

I've started using Boots Mega Shine Colour Lock Top Coat (nice short, catchy name Razz ) instead of Seche Vite. I think it's pretty similar, though maybe not quite as thick as SV.

Ok, update on this Very Happy

It's not as quick drying as I was hoping, but it's very good Very Happy Still has the shrinkage issue though but nowhere near as bad as seche vite

Well bit of a long story but I bought some glitter food from Nail Pattern Boldness as it had rave reviews about being a great topcoat for glitter polishes. However I was using it and was getting some horrific air bubbles. I posted the query on her Facebook page and she was very helpful and said it was probably the top coat I was using (Sally Hansen) and recommended NYC Grand Central Station and looking around it appears quite a few other people raved about it as well.

So I looked on the superdrug website and saw that they were doing a 3 for 2 on make up and free postage so I got three bottles of it for £3!!

Received today so I'll give it a go tomorrow. However I managed to sort the bubbling out in the meantime by putting a bit of thinner in the glitter food. Its fab stuff, highly recommended.

Couldn't find the NYC top coat in superdrug - but I'm now really tempted by this:

Rimmel Goth Me Up Top Coat Smokey

anyone tried it?
