Mylene Klass nail wraps

Has anyone had a good experience with these?
I bought some for my birthday night out and followed the instructions but they failed to adhere properly. They lifted quite a bit and couldn't file to a smooth finish. I even put topcoat on to try a stick it down after they lifted- nothing helped. Had to take them off before I left the house.

They had a guarantee so I am tempted to take them back for a refund. Am I doing something wrong? Are shop bought nail wraps not that great? My sister said she had the same problem with a different set.

I have no exprience with the MK wraps however, some wraps are just genuinely horrid to work with - trendy ones for a start!

You should always ensure that your nails are scrupulously clean - no scraggy cuticle left on, and a cleansed nail plate (I use scrubfresh, but acetone-containing NPRemover will do in a pinch).

Another tip is to heat the wrap slightly. I use minx and, as they hold the patent, they're the only ones allowed to say that the wraps must be heated during application. However, other wrap brands used to sell mini 'heat tools' with their kits. The infrared lamps that minx sell are ideal because the wraps can be continuously heated but you can use a hairdryer - or even a little craft heat tool. Keep the heat going until the wrap is all bendy and flexible and then apply to the nail, being careful not to touch the skin. Allow the wrap to cool for a minute or two and then file off the excess. It SHOULD last ok without a topcoat, but wraps aren't really expected to last much more than a few days, much longer on toes,.

My minx wraps looked perfect for a fortnight on my daughters fingers - I was astonished!

Thanks for all the tips. I got my money back but might consider trying a different brand in the future.

I had some nail wraps that I bought for my party. Really struggled to apply. Lots of creases etc. Applied at 9pm.

Next morning I needed to iron a couple of bits, OH shirt, my dress. They peeled right off! Was gutted as they cost a few quid and were meant to be quite a reliable brand.

I have some others but I may ask my beautician ( who always gazes at my nails in wonder!) to apply for me next time!
