Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I know most ladies on here have a rather large stash of nail polish, but do any of you also have a problem with stashing toiletries? The thread I used to frequent on MSE was for fellow toiletry addicts.
As well as my polish collection, I also have a huge range of different toiletries and cosmetics, most of which I rarely use and some of which are years old. Every so often I just like to take various bottles and pots out and sniff them and that makes me happy for a bit. I also love to look at sparkly make up and pretty palettes. Whenever I feel down, I tend to buy something to cheer myself up. However, the amount of stuff I have accumulated makes me feel anxious sometimes. It causes tension between me and OH as he says I have far too much and that I should give some away. Frankly, the idea of parting with any of my stash fills me with absolute horror. I don't really know why I buy stuff, I just can't seem to help myself and I love a bargain. I must admit I haven't bought many toiletries lately, but unfortunately I have added to my nail polish collection in a big way instead. I also seem to have a lot of fruit teabags, books, magazines and bags.
Am I the only one here or do any of you seem to hoard toiletries or other items? Please help me feel like less of a weirdo.

Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I hoard clothes. Seriously my wardrobe which is large is overflowing and I've got TWO large pine chest of drawers which are both full to the brim. I can barely get clothes in or out now!! I keep having sort outs but always end up keeping loads as I might wear it one day....
Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I don't have that many clothes - I absolutely detest clothes shopping. OH actually has more clothes than me!

I have loads. I have cut down a lot but probably replaced it with the nail polish. Mine used to be LancĂ´me juicy tubes.

Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I used to be a toiletries addict. Unfortunately my 'no buy' toiletries pledges on the mse thread led to me wander in to the nail polish sections in boots... I think in one shopping trip I once bought about 30 polishes while trying to avoid toiletries purchases. Then Saiwan on the toiletries thread introduced me to ninjapolish and indie polishes and then a monster was born.
I also have a clothes addiction. My drawers and wardrobe are overflowing with clothes still complete with tags. Despite this I can usually be found in jeans, vest top and hoodie... Ditto shoes. But usually found in converse, vans or uggs. Same with bags but rarely bother taking a bag anywhere anymore....
I think i'm just an addict in general

Ditto. What I need is for someone to come over and help me be ruthless!
Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
Hello, my name is Loolabeanbag and I'm an addict.
Yup, I have a large cupboard under the sink overflowing with toiletries including a seperate 'man vault' - he has to ask for a new allocation on production of the empty bottle/can as he's not allowed near my preciouses. Oh, and a seperate drawer for my many perfumes (I have enough Loulou Blue and Jil Sander Sun to last me a lifetime).
My excuse is that I'm a clothes size 18 top and 22 bottom therefore nothing fits me properly therefore I don't spend a lot on clothes (they get covered in baby sik anyway);my feet are very wide so I only wear DMs and don't spend much on them as they last so long.
Therefore in my mind (and fortunately DHs) my spends on ladygoods is duly justified....!
I'm also a sucker for pretty packaging.....

If anything I horde food But that's a separate issue...
I go through phases of hoarding things, then getting bored when I have so many I can't move, and moving onto something else.

Do you ever use any of it up or get rid of it, or does it all just stay in the cupboards?kissmenow9 wrote:I go through phases of hoarding things, then getting bored when I have so many I can't move, and moving onto something else.
I'm still trying to use up all my fruit teabags, but I keep seeing new flavours and thinking 'ooh, I must try that!'.

Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
Boots and handbags here....
I have dozens of pairs of boots (3 pairs of genuine Uggs alone not to mention other brands of the same style). I have biker boots, thigh boots, knee boots, Dr Marten boots, heeled boots, ankle boots. You name it, I own it
Then there are the handbags (and purses to some extent). That started not long after I'd had my little scotty dog Jack (we lost him in February aged 9). Radley had scotties on it so ergo I had to buy Radley but one was never enough......last count I had about 14 of them and then there are the purses. Of course it's not just Radley, other bags will do......
Pullip dolls is another addiction (hence my username) There are 28 of those, though all are sadly currently confined to the loft until one of the kids fecks off and I can have their room haha

Depends what it is really - I'm good at using up things that go off but at the end of every uni year I have a small stockpile of random jars and pasta etc. where I've just bought it cos it looked tasty/was on offer I'm better this year as I have no money lol.
Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I'm a complete toiletry hoarder, I have a huge built in cupboard in the bathroom that OH had to add some new shelves to to hold my collection.
My fave have to be my Lush goodies, I really don't think I could live without them.
My addiction has started spreading to makeup and nail polish lately and after just a few months of getting into them I already have a drawer full and am looking for a new way to store and organise everything.

Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I was one of the original people on that MSE challenge, but haven’t posted on it for ages – I just don’t have as much time to get onto forums nowadays.
It did completely reform me though I’m glad to say I still have a bit of a stash, but nowhere near as bad, and I rarely buy things now unless I need them. I’ve started accumulating a lot of polishes this year though!
I was in Boots at the airport on Sunday, and gave myself permission to shop – I was bored (flight delayed by an hour) had room in my bag, and it’s so much cheaper to buy things in Boots in the UK. I still bought nothing. I just couldn’t think of anything I needed, and there was no ‘want’ either!
And yes, I had a hard look at lots of polishes, but bought none
It has changed my shopping habits for lots of other stuff too – I shop a lot less in general, but am comfortable buying something quite spontaneously if I see something I need/really want – I tend to buy slightly more expensive/higher quality things now, but spend less overall. It’s nice
I do need to get back into the habit of using toiletries though, I’ve been really lazy (and short of time) these past couple of months, and my skin is getting really dry and annoying
And I reeeeealllllly need to clear out my wardrobe – I haven’t done it properly in years, and it’s pretty silly now!

Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I would like to be a toiletries hoarder. Money has been so tight over the last year or so that I've used up every last scrap of everything before I could justify buying any more. I've literally been down to the last drops before I would buy another. I've hardly bought any nail polish either, got lots as presents but I bet I've bought no more than a dozen in the last year.
Now when I get my redundancy money in January...

Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
My names Sally and I am Clinique obsessed.
I never used make up, ever really until I was in my twenties. Then I felt miserable and went to the clinique counter and delved right in. For about 10 years I used it daily, on everything. The only thing I deviated for was mascara, as I loved Max Factor 2000 calorie mascara.
Then I got married, and got poor, and it had to be by the wayside. Although some of it is still used to this day, but only special occasions.

Re: Is anyone else a toiletries addict too?
I'm quite proud of myself - I haven't bought anything toiletry wise at all from the Boots half price sale this year. Usually I can't resist the Sanctuary stuff or reduced cosmetic palettes.
My toiletry stash hasn't reduced in size though. I did buy some more perfume in the sales and a Molton Brown Maracuja Sugar Polish and I just got sent four 250ml haircare products to trial.........

What perfumes did you buy? I just bought some more Opium plus Stella by Stella McCartney and Creed's Virgin Island Water. I'm also a perfume addict but tend to stick to the Milton Lloyd copies rather than spend a fortune for originals!
