The day we went to Hogwarts!
I took Ellie to the Harry Potter Studio's at Leavesden on Wednesday, we had a fabulous day - something we both needed I think! Anyway, I thought I'd share with you the photo's from our day
Ellie wore her custom made Slytherin Cloak and had great fun fighting death eaters. I want a job there!!

Great pictures! Tt looks like we only live about 30 minutes away, would it be really sad for two grownups to go without a small person?

Awesome pictures. I want to go there so badly.
My best friend from school used to work at the HP theme park in Orlando. She works at Disneyworld now. It must be so hard for her.
@HanSpan, not at all. If and when I eventually go it'll be adults only.

I've promised my BF I'll take him for his birthday present just gone - had planned to do it over Christmas (December baby!) but I didn't have time and it's now going to be a while before I can get the cash together We too only live about 30 - 40 minutes away!
Was it busy? Do you get a specific group to go in with?

Re: The day we went to Hogwarts!
There were lots of people in there with no kids so don't worry!
You reserve a time and are allowed in within that half hour timeslot, once you go through the door you watch a short movie then are led into the great hall where you get a little talk, then the doors open into the main studio and off you go. From there your time is your own, you can spend all day in there if you like and you aren't moved from room to room after that.
Surprisingly it wasn't as busy as I'd suspected, you could hang around, see everything, photograph everything. You walk through the first studio then go to the outdoor set (Privet Drive, Knight Bus etc) there is a butterbeer stall out there too
Then you walk into studio two where you can explore Diagon Alley then the huge model Hogwarts.
I was amazed actually because I got photo's of Diagon Alley empty, I was expecting to be fighting crowds but everyone dispersed their own way and in their own time.
I'd advise going in just after lunch (1pm) and wandering at leisure, it closes at ten so you have ample time then
Oh, and save lots the gift shop is VERY expensive. A pack of Bertie Botts jelly beans are £8.95 and a paper Marauders Map is £29.99, replica wands £25 and simple keyrings £8. Ellie spent £100 in 5 minutes, but she'd specifically wanted Fred & George's Display Wands which was £65
Oh, and thanks Baba He loved the snowday!

Jane, it looks great! So glad you had a wonderful day, I enjoyed looking at your pictures.
My 10 year old son would so love to go, I'm going to have to take him, he doesn't know about this place (neither did I!) so what a birthday surprise that would be! If I was a Potter fan I'd still go minus the kids though....!

Oh he'll love it! The look of wonder on the younger ones faces was brilliant. Watch out for the display of death eater costumes though - one contains a real death eater who after standing still for a minute or two reached out to Ellie and scared the life out of her lmao
Re: The day we went to Hogwarts!
Thanks for the death eater warning, will keep that to myself but always good to be prepared, I have a very quick punch reflex XD
The gift shops sounds like it'll be dangerous, haha! Was the butterbeer nice? I've heard people say it was not very tasty

It was so sweet it sets your teeth on edge. I loved it, Ellie wasn't as keen which I was pleased about as I got to drink hers as well I'm quite glad it's not freely available because I'd live off the stuff. Again though it's not cheap - £2.50 for a little glass or you can buy souvenir glasses at £4 - £5.50 ish
I'd managed to scrape £40 to take with me, I'd purposely not bought food so I could spend it in the gift shop lol. I bought myself a Slytherin Hoodie which I love. Ellie and I found a purse full of money on the floor as well in the gift shop, handed it straight in so I hope it found it's owner.

It looked like a childs purse as well, I couldn't not hand it in. Hopefully the Karma will come back around
Re: The day we went to Hogwarts!
I'd so love to go. My boyfriend took me to see the 7th film for my birthday a few years ago though, having not seen any of the other films) and I think that's probably his limit...
