Re: Swear Room

I really don't get this, and I'm bound to be jinxing myself by saying this but I've never paid any custons charges, despite the honest price being on the declaration. This includes my Brazilian box, Romanian crate, big orders from France, USA, Italy and other far flung shores. Maybe it depends on the area you live in? I don't know, but it certainly seems unfair on those who do have to pay that others get away with it.
Kiko comes directly from Italy and has a minimum £25 order value - has anyone been charged on that? It all seems very inconsistent.

Eu stuff doesn't attract customs I believe, hopefully some one will correct me if I a, wrong.

Guess you got lucky with the Brazilian stuff.

I think EU stuff is okay and Kiko is bought off a dedicated UK web site so the VAT is included.

If its a no go with the postie, and I don't pay they send it back to the seller. I'm being tough but if your going to sell internationally have a clue about customs labels - guess this is why so many indies don't sell overseas.

well the postie said I had to pay and then claim it back from the customs people. I don't have any faith that would be an easy process with out lots of hassle so I said just send them back. If its a hassle getting a refund from the seller, then I can dispute through paypal.

The postie also said that the total amount includes p&p to which I showed her my nice print out stating it didn't - I think she learned something today.

And I think I'm done with indie sellers Cool

Luckily I woke up and read a few work emails before I went. That kind of put me in a despondent, whatever, this is all just hassle I don't want - mood. And the £8 from Royal Mail is just outrageous. The tax was only a few quid.

They were my birthday pressie to myself. Might go peruse Sally M's and Kiko for a bit...

Edit - ah the seller just emailed me, to say that when she gets them back she will resend them with the correct value on the customs form and sorry she had no idea and will do purchase value from now on.

6 nail polishes, and an epic journey of 4 atlantic crossings to avoid Royal Mails extortionate charges.... I'm going to write a blog post about this.

I hope they are worth it after all that!

Poor little polishes - maybe you should give them pet names like Bob and Frank and carry them with you always;)

I've just been clobbered for £2.91 on an eBay parcel because the seller didn't put enough postage on it. Neutral
Add to that work problems, torrential rain and another quarterly utilities bill of over £750.00 and my fabulous day is nearly complete. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Jesus Christ Babs!!! That's a massive bill!

We had a £700 bill once for a quarter and I nearly died. Apparently they hadn't billed us at all for the year before. So ended up on a repayment plan to pay it back.

Arseholes!!! The car fails the MOT today. The eldest kid has been a pain the arse. And I've just spent and hour and a half copying a nail design, start tidying up thinking the top coat is dry and stick a cotton wool pad to one bloody nail totally ruining it. Bollocks!!!!

I picked up my eBay parcel today that had insufficient postage. The seller charged me £2.60 for postage and packaging and just stuck a large second class stamp for 69p on the envelope. Rolling Eyes Mad

I've already contacted the seller with a photo of the labelled package and insufficient postage card from the Post Office. I haven't heard anything back yet though - they have 10 auctions ending within the next 30 minutes so I guess they may be logging in to eBay soon. Neutral

What type of nail art? Freehand stuff? I can't do that either, I'm hopeless, so I don't bother usually.

OH first laughed at mine then said why the heck not - so I'm taking it out in public. I expect some very funny looks!
This was the least awful of my effots to date and was greatly assisted by doing it in textured polish (definitely more forgiving) and with a very very tiny brush & dotter from Avon taht I seemed to make (marginally) less mess with than the long brushes I bought.
