magnetics that work or don't?

Post  burnoutbabe on Mon Aug 27, 2012 8:52 am

boyfriend got me a Nails Inc Star magnet - purple. But its soooo faint. However i tried it with the Star magent and a black/silver trafalgar square nails inc polish. Works ace on there.

The original gold doesn't work at all. So purple very feint, gold NOT AT ALL, black/silver okay. Anyone tried to blue star nails inc one? (think its whitehall or could be the strand)

I'm sure I recently read in a magazine that some base coats can interfere with the magnetic effect but I can't find anything about it online.

I think it can also be a bit of trial and error to get it right. Scrangie has a really good troubleshooting guide to magnetic polish with photos on her blog here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I hope that helps. Very Happy

One thing I found is you have to hold the magnet super still or it doesn't work

I use a couple of kiko magnetics. They sell you the magnet separately, so it's not stuck on the top/lid. It's actually a rectangular shape and seems to balance well at the bottom of the nail on it's edge, then you can hover the rest over the varnish. I have found I need to be fairly quickly in getting the magnet on it. so paint on nail, magnet it, next nail etc. Also for a more lasting effect, leave it a few seconds hovered over.

Yep, I have these too - work very well, and easy to use/balance the magnet as you said.
