Gel Starter kit? Empty Gel Starter kit?

Post  Elisebutt65 Thu Aug 30, 2012 12:49 am

Right I think I want to start using gel on my nails as I only get a chance to do them once a week or so. Term starts next week so I probably won't get a chance to breathe let alone do my nails regularly.

I've been looking on eBay but I haven't a clue where to start & I don't want to fork out huge amounts as OH and me have finally decided to tie the knot on 29/10 THIS YEAR!!!!Eeeep! All the more reason for nice nails though Wink

Can someone tell me what I need as a good starter kit, please, and where I can get it. Preferably online & all in one place to cut down on shipping. Can I do gel base & upper coat sandwiching normal varnish in between so I don't waste all my pretties?

Thanks in advance Laughing

I'm looking forward to hearing the advice you receive as I was very impressed with two friends with shellac nails recently and wondered if it was possible to do your own.

I've just started using Sensationail, which I bought from Boots although Asda are also suppliers in the UK. I've been getting on quite well with it. I haven't tried normal polish in between the base and top coats yet though.

Now I've got the lamp (LED) I'm looking for other brands as the Sensationail colours are a bit limited at the minute.

The starter kit I bought was £69.99, although there's a £10 off voucher in the current Boots magazine (voucher expires 4th September).
