DIY polish

So I got the MicaMoma kit for Christmas from OH & have of course had to use all three empty bottles already!
This is far too much fun & I've no idea why I waited and didn't just buy it for myself much earlier. That's not to say the results are any good of course! I think I've put far too much pigment in so all three are a bit on the overly opaque & gloopy side!

I have the advantage that I'd already ordered holo pigment from etsy, and have lots of soap making pigments which I decided to risk using (can't see why they'd be any different), so I can have more fun than with the selection I got with the kit, but even with just that number of bags I'd highly recommend it.

The only thing is the whole house is very slightly glittery now - its possibly the holo pigment, or it could be the silver, but its so fine it clings to everything and transfers everywhere. Slightly shimmery keyboard, cats, crockery...... I think OH may be regretting his choice of prezzie   

I've made a green one Sue (that's the most succesful) and a silvery blue with biggish silver glitter that is totally hidden by the pigment (oops) and a goldy/coppery one thad looks like diseased skin - its really awful but damn funny!
Now to order a load more bottles and base & see if I can water them down to a useable consistency!

thats soo cool! im thinking about ordering a starter set as well...

I'm resisting the temptation to have a go at this, I'd probably end up spending a couple of hundred quid and have nothing wearable at the end of it!

The are all pretty in the bottles as they look a bit like those sand in glass tube things I used to get at the seaside - all layered. I'm not entirely sure that's how they are meant to look;)

I'll get OH to take some pics later as the weather is soooooo foul there's not enough light anywhere so I'll have to get him to use his lightbox or something.

However I've been wandering and found some other options now - there's a UK etsy supplier of bottles with what look like much nicer brushes, as well as lots of other things! -

Its not actually all that colour accurate. The green & blue are much silveryer, the green looks almost matt in person.

No that really is an unrealistic pic. The goldy colour looks like a skin disease - something warty I promise.
The blue would be OK apart from the infrequent mid size silver glitter that doesn't shine thru (too thick) so just looks like odd lumps.
The green I do rather like. However the consistency is so odd with so much pigment I've no idea if it would actually stick to my nails, let alone last.

I'm currently in the process of trying to dilute the skin disease polish. Thank goodness for diposable plastic pipetes. Half the mess is now in an old Seche bottle and I'm topping up the original with more suspension base, and probably a bit of thinner.

Can't wait for the liquid pigments I ordered to arrive - that should make life much easier.

Still want circle glitter. Anyone know where the indie polish makers get their supplies from? I find hex terribly dull, and things like hearts too girly & kitchy for someone approaching 50!

I've ordered holo circles from the place on Etsy where I'm also getting base and liquid pigments and bottles from. I'm currently drumming my fingers waiting for it all to arrive. Patience is not my strongpoint!

The Mica Moma kit is awesome, I bought it a few months ago and had so much fun with it.   

Etsy order has arrived - lovely lady sent not only the holo circle glitters but samples of three other colours she is about to start stocking. She's also planning to stock spectraflair like pigment.
The kitchen is covered in supplies and I can't decide where to start its all so lovely!
