What to wear to a wedding!
Hi ladies
Had my first ever wedding invite for the end of May! Completely clueless though about what is and isn't appropriate to wear to the occasion. It's a church affair if that is relevant
I know obviously I shouldn't wear white but my style is very quirky, I have to say I do worry about sticking out like a sore thumb! Obviously I don't want to look like a total plum in my friend's lovely pictures.
Any styles on a budget that you ladies would recommend? This kinda stuff sends me into such a panic!

Re: What to wear to a wedding!
As you know I'm quite alternative as well so stuff like weddings brings me out in a sweat. My solution is usually something like this:

Nice with tights and heels, then AMAZING with thick tights and Docs. I can then get some use out of it other than just a wedding. I'm a big fan of tea dresses in general, they can look pretty for occasions but are still fab with thick boots

Cute dress! If I were a size 10 (I wish) I would have snapped that up

Re: What to wear to a wedding!
How traditional is the bride/groom?
If it's uber traditional... no solid white, black or red!
If it's not that traditional, I'd still steer clear of plain white/black but you could do a pattern with one or two of the colours.
Nothing too booby. No short skirts or high heeled leather boots! Basically the same as you'd wear to a posh restaurant is a good bet.

You dont need to be skinny to wear a tea dress

I know, was just saying that as size 10 was the only size left in that dress

My nicest polka dot tea dresses have all come from Charity shops Great places to lurk in, usually they are knee length so I get my MIL to turn them up an inch and perfect!

I'm gutted, I bought a lovely dress on eBay but my boobs are too big

I have that issue as well. Im a 12 bottom but 16 top so dresses can be awkward for me. I bought a stunning dress from dotty p's with a scottie on it but couldn't zip it up because of my boobs
Not fair

It's rubbish. Everyone always says they're so jealous of my boobs but they're a fucking 'mare, I can rarely find dresses that properly fit me. Everything I own pretty much is a stretchy or springy material because there's just nothing that accommodates my massive boobs! I know there are companies that design for ladies with big boobs but it's not my style at all. Pisses me off

Re: What to wear to a wedding!
Do you know what, there's just NOTHING. All the shops are selling dresses that either inappropriately short or a fucking maxi dress which I REFUSE to wear as my shoes are too fabulous to not be seen.
I'm getting really fed up with this, also annoyed that apparently wearing black is just as much of a no-no as white - can't even be myself! ARGH

Re: What to wear to a wedding!
Really depends on the bride with regards to the black thing - I've always been taught that black is ONLY worn for funerals so turning up at a wedding in it looks like you're mourning the loss of a partner (i.e. you wanted the groom for yourself!)
Give the bride a ring and ask her if she minds you coming in black? Some people don't

I really don't have a lot of money to be spending on this, I can't wear a lot of things cos of my body shape... I'm an absolute nightmare to go shopping for!

Re: What to wear to a wedding!
Does it have to be a dress? Surely a nice skirt and top combo could be dressy enough for a wedding? Or a smart blouse and plain trousers would show off a fab pair of shoes.
Even though I'm the exact opposite (as much boobage as an ironing board!), I don't envy you your boob dilemma ... Dresses are a nightmare to find a good fit at the best of times.

There is 20% off dresses @ Doothy Perkins right now, might find something ab for under £30

Re: What to wear to a wedding!
The last wedding I went to I wore this:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I can't tell you how much I adore that dress, still have it in the back of my wardrobe. I wore it for the wedding and have never worn it again, it's a size 18 and now buries me Gutted. I keep meaning to put it on eBay so I'm interested to see what the one above makes.

What about this dress?

I really like it and it's totally my style, but is it too much?

Do you think it'd be OK then Jane?
I just dunno what to get as brands like that tend to run small.

Re: What to wear to a wedding!
I'd love it at my wedding, but I guess its a bit alternative so it depends on the bride I'd think.
What about this one? Bit more subtle...

This is lovely:

Or this would look stunning with you having dark hair:
