Decals - Any tips?

I am going to be putting decals on for the first time tonight. Is there any hints or tips you ladies can give me so I don't make a complete pigs ear of it!!!

Use plenty of water. As well as soaking the decal, wet your nail befoe applying the decal. If there's enough water you can slide it around until its in the right place. Then just leave it to dry completely before top coating. When you put your top coat on put it on quite thick and use as few strokes as possible to avoid breaking bits of the decal off.

Well its sort of worked!!! But I have come to the conclusion that my nails must be quite slim as I struggled to find enough small enough to fit. Will try and post pic tomorrow, but have a fab weekend at the Paralympics planned so may not have time. At least I have the nails now to support team GB. Yayyyyy.
So very very excited.
