Hello - de-lurking
Hi All,
I guess I'm one of the lurkers Loolabeanbag was so annoyed at - I've only just seen that thread. I joined when you guys moved from MSE - I didn't realise I HAD to post on here - sorry. I don't have any really have any friends and live in an all male household. For me it's a bit like watching TV (if that makes sense). I'm not very technical, I don't have a blog, don't ebay or buy online, I don't sell at carboot sales, I usually only shop at Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets and pound shops. I do like looking at all the pictures though and I do like painting my nails (more so after seeing all the great pics online - here and elsewhere - even though I am rubbish!). I have major stuff to deal with and this is just a kind of escape. I enjoy reading the rapport you guys have, but don't think I really have anything to contribute. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone by lurking (that word sounds so horrible especially when I am not!).
PS. I'm not running away - I need to wash henna out of my hair! I'll read replies tomorrow.

Re: Hello - de-lurking
Hello Whoami I have no problems with lurkers, I'm known to lurk myself lol. Please don't feel you have nothing to contribute though! We'd love to see some pictures of your nails or find out what nail polishes you're loving at the moment
Re: Hello - de-lurking
Hi Whoami I didn't think I'd contribute much when I first joined but looking at my post count it seems I do like to post a bit
Hope to see you around in the future
(And I'm so un-technical I've had to type this out twice as I deleted it the first time )

Hi Whoami and welcome! Nobody has to post on the forum, it's just lovely to meet new members and have a chat even if you feel you don't have that much to contribute. I just talk guff most of the time and nobody seems to mind!
I look forward to hearing more from you when you have the chance.

Hi Whoami! It's good to meet you.
Babafette's right, you don't have to post (OK, I feel a bit bad now, sorry... ) but I'm hoping that you'll enjoy joining in. I don't use other forums (too many bad guys for my liking!) but I stick with this one as it's good fun, a genuinely very friendly place and a great escape hatch too.
If you love polish, you have something in common with us all, but as well as polish chat there's plenty of general banter too so welcome to our world!
Oh, and does henna still smell like warm cow cack? It's been years since I've used it but that smell will stay with me forever.......

Re: Hello - de-lurking
Hi,
Sorry, I couldn't get on yesterday and can't stay long today either! Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Ninjablossom - I don't have one particular favourite but I do like duochromes a lot. I am terrible for buying and storing rather than using them! I think it's the thrill of the purchase that does it for me
Sam - I'm afraid I have only taken a few photos recently but have no idea how to put them onto the computer, let alone on here. Besides you might freak at the state of my nails! I don't do clean up - I have brown skin and the white gap just looks weird! I just paint the night before and the excess comes off in the bath! And as for cuticles - I think mine look more raggedy when I try to push them back!
LoolaBeanbag - It's ok - I'm just not very good at meeting new people and usually just keep to myself And yes, henna does smell and look like cowpat:P Unfortunately, I can't use dye.
I'll try and participate as much as I can - really hate offending people

Re: Hello - de-lurking
I never bother cleaning up unless I'm taking pictures straight away for my blog. So much easier to just let it come off in the shower!
Re: Hello - de-lurking
I'm now pretty much always using the method someone on here suggested - painting round the edges and my cuticles with PVA glue before starting, then washing off all the splodges along with the glue after (often in the shower the next morning)

Re: Hello - de-lurking
And when I'm having trouble removing polish, and I'm really REALLY desperate, I have been known to wash a dish or two. Although frankly, you wouldn't know it from looking at my kitchen at the moment...

Love it!
Also love that so many of you don't do clean up - I thought everyone did that apart from lazy old me! Must try PVA but I'm such a bad timekeeper that I usually end up painting my nails quickly 5 minutes before we have to leave the house

I do the same thing but in the shower. Just need to remember to pull it off in the right direction otherwise it hurts! I did try to use varnish remover on a cotton bud but I get distracted then annoyed if I hit the nail by mistake.
I lurk too, mostly because I only pop in for a little bit each time and look for the pretty pics

Ha Ha! I've tried the cotton bud clean up too, but yes, the same as you! Love pretty pictures of nails, my favourite is The Polished Perfectionists peacock nails!

Hi Whoami. I'm with you on that, her peacock nails are one of my all time favourites. Just stunning. I've tried to copy it a couple of times but not quite reached her level, don't think I ever could.
