Re: What's On Your Mind?
A woman here in my office was just attempting to talk to me about waiting for her toenail to fall off !
I was a bit sick in my mouth.

Why do people do this? tell you really personal stuff you really don't need to hear! It isn't making pleasant conversation it is a massive overshare.

Oh God that is even worst, you could have heard other horror stories. I am not sure what it is about workplaces but it seems to bring out total weirdos.
These people never get the hint either when you ask them to stop or look totally uninterested.

Would you like me to send you some ear defenders lol.
Our office has just got busier and there was talk of moving my department elsewhere as our company structure has changed, I was pleased at first to stay but now I wish they had moved us. It is noisy in there now, loads of people doing zero work or having the most random conversations ever. Hot desking dramas and the tea club has been disbanded! People get offended if I only make for myself now but apparently you have to make for your bank of desks only - much easier when they was only 6 of us in there, we all mucked in.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Earplugs would be good ! Thank you !
Making tea etiquette - always very confusing ...
I'm fortunate that, although I work in a relatively busy office - I don't have a team or department, so only make for me when I want for me !
People do offer all the time though, I always say no, that way I won't have to 'owe' them a cup of tea / coffee. I'll only lose track, then seem rude for not making for them.
Also I avoid the kitchen a certain times, when I know people I dislike massively will be in there. I can't bear the slow, painful small talk.

I like tea but I do think it is the classic "how can I waste 15 mins" task, a cup for everyone takes time. I swear we have 1 cup an hour minimum.
Ah people you can't stand at work, they seem to be everywhere you need to be all at the same time, that used to annoy me at my old building as it was really petty there.
You should pm your work addy, that will be funny when they turn up.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
I made a decision to stop making the team tea when I worked in an office. Some people just never made their round and it caused grief. So my simple little decision to say no one make me tea and I won't make anyone else tea - keep it simple - caused paranoia, back stabbing conversations and escalated into some massive team divides and HR meetings.
Glad i work from home now.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
When I was working, the managers and "high ups" would all do a tea round for each other every hour or so, but us peasants had to make our own and wait until lunchtime. :/

That is definitely like the Ron Burgandy quote "That escalated quickly" all that drama from not making tea! Makes you wonder if some people ever do any work. The resident tea shriker was making thirsty noises the other day - was quite funny and then I sweetly replied, "you know where the kettle is"

That is barbaric if that was my office I would have literally had a gallon of tea at lunchtime to bring back to my desk.

It was shit, like working for Nazis. I liked the job I did but the company itself was a pile of crap. Glad it went bust now

Well I don't drink tea or coffee so they don't make it for me therefore I don't make for them. I have a pint of squash which I go and top up every now and then!!

I'm not actually tired though, I'll be getting an early night that's for sure, just not yet! I'm just having some soup. I'd be fine if my body didn't hurt all over, I'd just get on with it. I'm never ill, so when I do get something I'm a giant baby about it

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Jasmina, the thought of eating something that he might have touched literally makes me want to throw up. He sits in his chair and farts. And he makes so much noise when he eats...bleurgh.
There's only three of us in the office. Me and Liz are very excited about getting rid of him and replacing him with out new female trainee

If you were Northampton based I could have sworn you were talking about an old colleague of mine. He once sneezed into his hands, licked it, rubbed then together then wiped on his trousers - what the actual fuck! are tissues rare or something? grotty little monster.
He also fell asleep at work taking a paid poo once!
Oh and farting into his chair was a daily occurrence.

VOM. We used to have a real minger in our office. He had Cystic Fibrosis (no sympathy for him cos he smokes) and I would frequently hear him hacking up phlegm and swallowing it again. Then there was the farting and the burping, he worked on a team of women! Seriously rein it in, ugh!
