I notice that the relief effort was double quick once the problem hit the Thames and the South East though............

Memo to self-do not use the £1 shop Argan Oil hand pack again. The Peach foot pack was gorgeous, smelled fab and feet are lovely and soft (though did feel rather weird putting my feet into what were in effect an 2 oily plastic bags ) But my hands stung after nearly 10 minutes so I took them off, and they feel awful today-skin is all tight, and too warm, and drier than before I started-have had to put more handcream on to make them feel approaching normal again.

Thank you I'm not sure why they've reacted like that as my Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner hasn't caused me any grief, so I don't think it can be the Argan oil...weird, but hey, that's me!Babafette wrote:Oh dear, I hope your hands feel better soon Disco Diva.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Because you are trying to please both sides usually, I remember planning my wedding very well, and it was a nightmare trying to please us and both sets of family. We had a huuuuuuuge drama over who was sitting at the top table. Glad I don't have to do it again!Babafette wrote:Why do weddings always have to be so bloody complicated? Re: What's On Your Mind?
I think marriage is a ..... (don't get me started) but I lurve weddings as I get to wear a big hat!
Never been married - never will, said that at around 12 and have never changed my mind.
But I do enjoy the crazy Welsh family wedding dos, and feel a bit bad I've nopt provided one of my own - so maybe that's why I'm planning the biggest funeral.
Whilst I was on holiday for 2 weeks my Dad died. He had been diagnosed with dementia & was finding his life less and less enjoyable as his memory and confidence and ability to remember and concentrate went. Plus his legs were stuffed.
Its all quite hard as I have no siblings, my Mum died 20 years ago. She had no siblings. Dad had one brother who died about 7 years ago. So its me, me & me.
There's loads of lovely family spread round the country but none are physically close by so I'm floundering through it, and worrying more than anything about what to do with a big 4 bed detached contents when we live in a dinky 2 bed cottage.
However - he once mentioned 4 black horses so he's getting them - from his house to the crem - with a lead car stopping the traffic so the horses can trot on. He would have appreciated causing so much aggro to the drviers of Bromley;)
Now I just need to find an appropriately ostentatious black hat to match the occasion.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Sorry to hear about your dad Han, hope you are holding up. The horses sound amazing though.
We've run out of weddings in the families for now, so it's big birthdays for the older generations and babies for the younger I guess. Never worn a fancy hat to a wedding - was going to do it to my gran's funeral as she LOVED a hat, but most of my aunts and uncles caused such a fuss about it "looking bad" that I decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Then I found out my cousins hadstolen sorry, 'borrowed' jewellery as tokens to get through the rest of eternity service.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Thanks stationaryace.
What on earth looks bad about wearing a hat to a funeral? Pratts. As to the jewelry and stuff - unfortunately many people's baser instincts come out when there's money around.
I'm wavering between wanting to sell stuff for the money and offering everything to members of the family. Just had my lovely aunt point out that I should be careful offering mementoes as some of the paintings are valuable - which I realise but how I find out which ones and have them valued is one of the long list of chores. So tempting to not bother, keep the ones I like & give the rest away quick! If it weren't for inheritance tax I think that's what I'd actually do but unfortunately its not an option as I suspect I shall have to find oodles of money for the tax man, and those paintings will jsut add to the bill.
Anyone know a decent art dealer?

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Yet another bloody leak. Plumber is currently using an angle grinder to cut a hole in my tiles which may or may not allow him to access the stopcock which is leaking. Otherwise half the tiles behind my toilet and sink will have to be ripped off.
He seems rather odd as well.......

Not very talkative, keeps huffing and puffing and sighing like he's annoyed or something. Still, he managed to fix it without pulling any tiles off at least.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Oh no Baba! Is it a steroid one?
I had a chest infection a couple of years back and the doctor told me to try steam inhalation rather than giving me antibiotics. I only did it once, and had daily nose bleeds for a week!
