Stuff you get sent to review.

No-one ain't not never going to send me nothin', I get that, and am perfectly happy about it. I'd be concerned about becoming compromised, and wouldn't want to feel any obligation to swatch a polish I don't like the look of.
However, I'd love to hear what you get sent, how did you contact the company and if you've ever stopped receiving stuff after giving a bad review  

i've not really been sent stuff to review apart from the picture polish stuff for blog fest which was more create nail art...

But I bought those nellie polishes and thought they were awful. She's starting up, so I'm in 2 minds whether to blog about them. Feel bad if I did, but I did pay for them and they were shite.

I'm really soft and naturally love to rave about good polishes and have a hard time dissing bad ones! That said I try to be politely honest.

I've only given a sort-of negative review for a stamping plate from KKCenterHK ~ it was an adorable bird image but the hearts didn't stamp properly. In that case I just showed the photo and pointed out the flaw, and that it was such a shame because the image was so cute. But I've been really quick and thorough with the couple of freebies sent to me by KKCenterHK so they've used me again.

That's an interesting one Ninja - as a reader I'd want your honest opinion on the Nellies, and if I was Nelly I'd want to know how to improve my polish too. What about contacting Nelly before blogging and asking for her response so that you could post that too (with her permission)?
Geordie, politely honest sounds ideal. I've stopped following some blogs because of their constant gushing reviews of samples, even those that clearly look a bit iffy.

After the 'Revolution' incident with Picture Polish, I was initially peed orf by the generic reply, but after a few communications it became apparent that they not only valued my opinion but cared about their customers. They also amended the description of the base to mention that results varied for everyone. That's progress in the right direction, and faith restored in PP for me. Had I been blogging then I'd have told the whole story rather than just a negative review.

What happened with Revolution???

Oh, I'd be interested in your experience with the Nelly polishes too ninja! I don't see a problem with giving negative reviews generally speaking, depending on how they're worded. Constructive criticism is a good thing all round I think.

I have two Nelly polishes but only tried one so far (Mena) and didn't really have a problem with it. It was a ready made up bottle though, I wonder if that makes a difference? I have a dried bottle from her too but can't seem to lay my hands on the bottle of clear I know I have floating around somewhere, so haven't tried it yet.

That said, I'm not sure how I'd feel about being offered products for free to review. I wouldn't feel under any obligation to give a good review as such, but if I really hated the product I think I might feel a bit awkward!

I think then ladies, I'll make up the second one i have and get a review on at the weekend.

I mean it also makes for a different blog post I guess. thanks for the input
