Well it had split so I used the tea bag method to try and grow it out a bit before I chopped them off. Had it on a few days and nail decided it didn't want to hang around.

Did the same on the other hand but a lot less blood! Let them get too long really!

Jeez Shoppers, that's making my eyes water xx I've got a side split that I'm holding together with gel. It's lasted a fortnight so far.... I bet I've just spoken too soon!

Ouch, that looks sore, I hope it heals soon. Your nails seem to grow really fast though so it won't be long before they look lovely again.

I keep getting a split either side of my left thumb nail. I had to cut it really short about two weeks ago but now every time it starts to grow out a small split appears lower down again. It's going to take ages to grow long again at this rate.

I didn't dare reply to this from work - but fuckinell that looks sore.
DO NOT squeeze lemons, chop chillies, clean anything with a cleaner stronger than hand soap.

Hate to be 'that person' but about 12 years ago my mum split her left index finger down the side about half the way down getting some laundry out of our wicker basket... and every time it grows out, it splits down again. :/

How is your nail now shoppingaddict?  I guess all your recent blog posts must have been pre-break. My broken thumb nail is still really short.  

Yes I've got loads of blog posts scheduled up! The nail is a bit short but otherwise all ok!

Very happy if it's healing, it looked painful! I've gone and caught my cuticle on my right middle finger, so sore.

You lucky thing. I've just filed both thumb nails a bit shorter again this afternoon as I took my polish off so the repair job had to come off too. I think I'll have to cut my other nails again tonight.   

I'm so disheartened, I've had to file both my thumb nails short yet again as they have split and torn at the sides. They've been short since the end of October and we're now in the middle of February. I'm going to have to cut all my other nails again now. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] 

I managed to nearly chop my index finger off yesterday. Now that was painful. Can't straighten my finger either now.

I just cut my nails last night because they seemed to be "duck-billing" a tiny bit as they grew long, which is a shame.
