Stamping - I give up!!
I love the effect. I read blogs and nails with stamping look fantastic but I simply can't do it! I've read and watched tutorials and for some reason the design either ends up blurred or not all the design comes off!
Tonight's example!

I put some sequins on to try and make them a little better but I don't think that worked either *sigh*

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
They dont look too bad
Are you using Konad plates and polish?
I know other plates and polish can work but i think for a beginner it is best to stick with Konad as they work the best
I only have a little experience myself but am quite pleased with the results so far. My main probs are with positioning the image

I've bought some plates and a Konad stamper set but am too scared to give it a go as I'm sure I'll be useless at it.

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
Must agree I think konad special polishes are well worth the extra to get it working properly. Other than that the only ones I wholeheartedly reccomend are the Barry M Silver/Gold and Lilac foils.
You are getting an image, I think you need to be rougher with it.
When you get the pattern off the plate, push hard, and lift off straight up, make sure you don't drag any of the pattern.
When you start with your nail, have your fingers flat on the table. line the print up with the edge of your nail and roll it across the nail. Don't be tempted to go 'up and down' with it as it won't cover your nail properly.

I'm using bundle monster plates, with a stamper from one of the Hong Kong sites.
I normally use Konad polishes but in this case I used Barry m silver foil........

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
Have you buffed the surface off your stamper? That's helps to get a crisp design. Just file it a little bit, not too much, just enough to roughen the surface slightly.
Agree with Lady S, the Barry M foil polishes are great for stamping.

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
I'm doing rather better with the Llarowe stamper - its different from the Konad & the other cheapies I've had. For a start its much bigger, its rubbery rather than rough, and its more bulgy and squidgy.
Hard to explain but I can push straight down on the plate without having to roll and can then pretty much squidge straight down with only a little roll on my nail.
The plates are great too - actually big enough to cover whole nails!
I did a very dodgy combination of colours, whilst quite drunk, which has all but rubbed off after a few days as I used no top coat. So no pics but I promise I will next time.

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
I am so shit at stamping.
I got in a right strop last time, I just can't get it right! First the image doesn't pick up properly, then my main problem is I can't do it straight! Arrrgh! I gave up.
Trying to psych myself up to give it another go but I don't know if I can be bothered to get so worked up about it again lol

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
Have you tried slightly roughing up the stamper with an emery board? help it to pick up the picture.
When I first did it used a stamp where there wasn't a need for it to be straight. Then as I have got the technique a bit i have used other designs.

Yeah in the end I discovered that technique but didn't help my wonkiness
Is that a stamp you did in your avatar Lady S? It looks so good!

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
I might give it another go tomorrow. I'm currently rocking pink glittery tips and I like them too much to take them off just yet!
Could anyone recommend a plate that has designs which are not too tough to get straight?e

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
I'm still trying to get myself psyched up enough to try it for the first time! I'm so certain it's going to be a disaster I figure it's easier not to bother at all.......Laura257 wrote:Trying to psych myself up to give it another go but I don't know if I can be bothered to get so worked up about it again lol

Konad M57, but if you look at a company called in the light box they have fauxnads which are cheap as chips. Think I paid £2 each for them.

I think M57 is the one I've got, has it got leopard print and a lacey pattern on it?

Re: Stamping - I give up!!
I'm getting into stamping now - I can actually get the full picture and stamp it the same way up on all nails, mostly *chuffed*
If you struggle to get them facing the right way up practice on paper first, and double check the stamp before placing on your nail. My biggest adjustment was wasting nail varnish if the whole picture didn't pick up Over it now and trying to convince hubby to let me practice on his toes!

HAHA that reminds me of when I was very young and my dad let me paint his toenails red and blue, then he fell in a hole and hurt his foot and he had to go to the hospital and show the nurse his foot
