MUA Make Up Academy - complete debacle and rude. Avoid!
This morning MUA announced that as they had reached 50k Facebook followers they were having an offer, everything half price AND free shipping! Minimum spend was £15. This was the banner....
People were going on the site, spending just over £15 and getting their goods for half price. Brilliant.... then came the following 'lovely' tweets from MUA:
Bloody rude, but still, I and a lot of others left the site. Going back to the site we have now discovered that not only is there a lot of items out of stock (so that tweet was a lie!) but the minimum order has doubled to £30! Seems MUA wanted us all off the site to put up the cost!
Oh, and just to put the final nail in their coffin, prices have strangely increased. A fixing mist that was £4 yesterday (proved through a cached page) is £5 today.

So bearing all this in mind ladies, avoid them.

You are all posting telling us you can't get on website - wait! Be patient!
Everyone please get off our website! We did warn you not to all go in at once, as otherwise no one will get the offer!
Hi all! Just to re-assure everyone, we are not going to run out of stock - we are just asking everyone as nicely...

They claim we all misread the offer, yet can't explain how those who ordered before the changed terms managed to get their discount on goods at £15 and over.
Its bullshit. And they havent even begun to address the out of stock items. Complete shambles.

I had a look but there was lots of attacks on lots of people and I didn't like that so didn't read it all!!
Sounds like they hasn't thought it through very well!

It all went tits up at their last facebook 'like' threshold too (I think it was 40% off at 40,000)!!!! I ordered some make up bits but won't be rushing back for their latest 'hot offer'!!! Thanks for the warning.

I wouldn't avoid them!!
I don't think we should all judge a company over one persons rudeness. I absolutely love make up academy. Their make up is unbelievably cheap at affordable prices and fantastic quality have never had bad service from them. Yes manners and a pleasant way of writing/saying stuff doesn't cost nothing. I wouldn't avoid them but simply go to superdrug and buy from there, if you don't like the online service. x

I dunno, if a company is rude and mis handles their offers (doubling the min order for example) it really doesn't make me want to spend my money with them. I'd much rather spend my money with a company that cares about their image, cares about their customers and their products.

I'm with you Ninjajane, and the cost of the customer service and website functionality is all factored in to the price of the product, so you are paying for it and should be of a reasonable standard at least.
I 'vote with my wallet' and if a company can't treat what should be valued customers with respect and fairness I simply won't use them again.
Politeness and pleasantness is critical to me, and also costs nothing. The actions of the MUA employees are effectively endorsed by the company/their employer, so one persons rudeness does reflect entirely on the company.
You could say with MUA you get what you pay for, but I've had far better customer service from lower cost items elsewhere.

Agreed. I don't deal with companies who don't treat you well.
