Anyone else own a Samsung Galaxy SIII?
Because if you do have a very close look at the silver bezel that runs all the way around it. This is mine, 12 weeks old, kept in a case, never dropped or misused and cracked, right across the bezel....

I don't expect a £500 phone to look like that in 12 weeks. It's apparently VERY common, Samsung are aware of the fault and are currently ignoring me.
Not amused at the moment.

I'm looking for a new phone - that was one of the ones I was considering, so thanks for the warning

I'm unfortuantley for my wallet an apple girl, mac, iPad and iPhone!
However I've had my 4s since it was released and the battery is now dying on me! Apple want £50 to replace it or I could do it myself but I imagine I'll end up breaking it. So currently saving for what ever they release this year. But whatever they release people moan. The 5 apparently had problems with the paint wearing off the bezel.
Did you buy sim free or contract? Surely you can get a replacement from where you got it from? Not just Samsung?

OH has the original Samsung Galaxy S which has been great. I still use my lovely pink Samsung E370 - as long as it makes calls and sends texts it's good enough for me!

I was an Apple girl. I'm on a MacBook Pro now, I've had every iPhone since they were released but I didn't like the 5, it was too samey for me so I went for the Galaxy (Baba, DD has the S, OH has the II neither have ever had issues).
I love the phone, and I'm glad I made the leap actually as I'm happier on this than iPhone, I'm just very disappointed with the build quality.
I'm concerned if a 12 week old phone can crack like that now what is it going to look like at the end of the contract?
I was a bit sneaky earlier, Samsung have been emailing me 'shortly' for a week now so I gave up with that, did some digging and found the email for the head of CS at EE. She'd trying to sort a straight replacement for me.
The issue I have is with Ellie having health problems she's quite anxious. I don't have another handset I can use so being out of contact from her for a fortnight while its repaired isn't practical. If El cant call me she gets upset, it's strange and I can't explain why she's like this but unless they can arrange a straight doorstep swap I'm going to have to put up with a cracked handset
Re: Anyone else own a Samsung Galaxy SIII?
Could you not just get a really cheap second hand phone from eBay to use for a couple of weeks? Nothing flash, just something that Ellie can call you on if she needs to.

Possibly, I need something that will take a micro sim, or Ill have to buy a sim adaptor I guess. Samsung USA are apparently authorising straight swaps for the cracked phones, as per usual the UK seem less interested.
We'll see what happens now.

I've got an SIII, just checked mine, no cracks yet but I've only had it a fortnight. Will be keeping a close eye on it.

I have a galaxy note and my stylus fell out within 6 weeks but I love the phone so I am not too bothered as I never use the pen thingy

I got a refurb handset, think it was a 7 day cool off period return though. I'd read all sorts about the cracks that can form. Screen is a biggie to watch for allegedly. I still went ahead and got one though. Hope EE can sort you out, my experience of them was horrendous, so good on you for getting the email of someone high up.

Jane, is it Jackie O'Leary that you're dealing with? I'm having some issues with EE and not getting anywhere with Customer Services - looking to see who I can escalate to and she's one of the names I've found...

It is yes
Had a phone call from her department, whilst they cant offer a straight swap they have arranged for a loan handset while mine is away so really pleased with that outcome
I used
jackie.o'leary@ee.co.uk
