Has anyone got any tips on how to take good pictures for the blog? Mine are really useless, I just don't know the first thing about photography.

outside, weather its sunny or over cast - natural day light seems to just make a huge difference.

The polishaholic did a blog about how she takes photos which was really good, as she just takes them outside - no light box or anything. Was sometime in Feb or March she posted that.

Some people just take amazing, professional looking photos! I was looking at Fellrunner's today and they're stunning!

I feel like my blog will go nowhere if I don't sort it out Embarassed

fell runners are stunning!

Heres the link.

I crop mine in iphoto and then add the watermark in powerpoint and save as a photo - takes seconds. I'm not very good with Gimp or any photo editing software.

If you take a pic outside, then crop it to it makes the nails bigger - should work on a normal compact camera.

Just spotted this - Embarassed Embarassed

I don't really do anything special - most of mine are just taken standing near the window at my desk using my Canon Ixus 40, which is about 10 years old. It's nice and small, so easy to hold and take pics at different angles. It has a macro button which I always use for nail pics - and I never, ever use the flash. I do take lots of pics and then just pick the best ones out for my blog.

I got a macro lens for our DSLR a few months ago and I use that for some pictures - it's quite hard to use though, and it needs the camera on a tripod, so the whole set up thing is quite awkward and I can only use it in one place.

My blog is very amateur so I try to get the best pics I can manage with nothing expensive. I paid 99 cents for the CameraZOOM application for my smartphone and use the steady hand setting, that makes a humongous difference. I take my pics by the window or, if it's night-time, I bought a USB light from Poundland that is really quite good!

Here is a pic taken with CameraZOOM and the USB light:
