Where to buy pure acetone?
I've got some old polish bottles I want to rinse out and re-use and I'm thinking I could also do with some for clean up!
Does normal chemists sell it or do I need to look online?

I bought mine from ebay it works out so much cheaper to buy a big bottle and decent it into an old small acetone glass bottle I have.
Be careful what you decent into as it can melt plastic

Ooh I didn't know you could get it in pound shops! I always get mine from pharmacies.

Me neither! I thought you could only get it from pharmacies/online etc.
I've been thinking about using it to speed up the removal process but I'm always worried about it drying out nails/cuticles and the fumes. Is it alright to use?
Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
I've bought it to clean out some old bottles and do a bit of a clean up with a small brush if I'm a bit messy.I used it the other night to remove the bit of teabag that I used to fix a nail split about a month ago that was glued on with nail glue - I'd forgotten how cold it makes your nails feel! I think it's ok to use as normal remover as long as you moisturise/condition well afterwards? But the fumes are pretty strong....

Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
Thanks for that Sue, I've always been curious. Doesn't surprise me about the fumes but it seems like a good thing to have at home, especially if you can pick them up locally. Did the teabag last a whole month?!
Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
Well it stuck to the main body of my nail for a month but not on the actual bit that was split for that long! I'd tried to let it grow a bit before I did the mend and it was a bit lumpy and therefore didn't have a flat surface to bond to,next time I'll use the teabag method straightaway rather than letting it grow out a bit first- lesson learnt!

Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
I use it for clean up a brush or cotton bud after stamping or sponging or anything that needs cleaning up round the sides or cuticles or for cleaning my stamping plates brushes dotting tools etc. Never on the full nail though

Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
I use it for clean up, and for removal of glitter (makes my fingers sooooo cooooold!). I don't think it really does too much harm drying things out, i probably do more damage when I try to remove glitter with nail polish remover and end up sort of scraping it off instead...
Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
I use essence peel off base coat for glitter or pva glue so much better then the tin foil robot hands method

Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
I'm oddly intrigued about this cold effect lol I', glad you guys mentioned it so now it wont be so weird
I suppose I should pick up some pva while I'm at it, especially those one-day-wear situations

Re: Where to buy pure acetone?
I used PVA for a little while, but I used to get nails just popping off, so I gave up.
