US Parcel warning!
I ordered a parcel from llarowe in early August. It didn't reach me and the USPS tracking wasn't very helpful. I emailed llarowe to find out what happened and apparently royal mail were holding the parcel. After speaking with royal mail, someone in Leeds queried what was inside and instead of driving it to my house- they decided to fly it to the returns centre in Belfast for scanning. So it looks like it will now be destroyed as once they know that it's polish- it won't be allowed back from Belfast.
Just wanted everyone to be aware that it looks like royal FREAKIN mail are now prohibiting incomming polish as well as outgoing. So it looks like I'm going to have to emigrate.

OMG, this is a total disasterSally Magpie wrote:Unfortunately I think that this is now a problem with any inbounds.
How do you get your shipments Sally? Do you use a special hazmat service?

Re: US Parcel warning!
Perhaps an antimatter suspension device Seriously, this is stupid. If posting nail polish was truly life-threateningly dangerous there would be no exceptions and no business permits.
Re: US Parcel warning!
What I fail to understand is, the 'danger' was over- the parcel was on the ground in Leeds and it just needed taking to my house in a van. Instead of that they put it back on a plane- which is apparently what they're trying to avoid!

It's beyond ridiculous. Hopefully they'll get enough complaints about this crap that they'll have to change something.

Re: US Parcel warning!
this sucks I'd post the above on their facebook page - because they did put a deemed dangerous package on a plane, so they need to rethink their policy or rather think it through properly.mayMeow wrote:What I fail to understand is, the 'danger' was over- the parcel was on the ground in Leeds and it just needed taking to my house in a van. Re: US Parcel warning!
They are sent by hazmat courier. So, there is a limited volume per box, and they have to be packaged in a certain way.mayMeow wrote:OMG, this is a total disasterSally Magpie wrote:Unfortunately I think that this is now a problem with any inbounds.

Re: US Parcel warning!
This is bad news! I'd been expecting a package from a friend in the US for a while, and it's not here yet - I really hope it hasn't been destroyed. Like everyone else says, once a package containing polish has arrived in safely in the UK, what is the problem with letting it continue on to its destination!
I need to go on a low-buy anyway; this is certainly an incentive to stop ordering from the US!

Re: US Parcel warning!
Its ridiculous as they don’t stop you packing them in your suitcase/hand luggage and flying with them

Re: US Parcel warning!
If it is an established retailer I can't see it being a problem as they must have to deal with lost/stolen/damaged packages all the time.
But it is a risk you take. ( a calculated one though)

Re: US Parcel warning!
This has just been posted on facebook
'' Hi everyone, sorry to bump this again but thought you might want an update. I emailed Royal Mail Customer Services about my package to try and get more information about why it would have been sent to the National Returns Centre. When they found out it was nail polish they sent me this:
'Due to the nature of your item, it has been passed to our National Returns Centre (NRC). Although different countries have slightly different rules between what can be posted internationally, Royal Mail do not allow nail polish to travel through our international network and this item should not have been shipped into the UK.
Now the item has arrived, it has been passed to the NRC for further inspection where they will check the contents and quanitity of the package and decide whether the item is suitable to travel through our UK network to be delivered to you.
If the item is not suitable it will be securely disposed of in line with our Terms and Conditions and a letter will be issued to you explaining this.'
I had no idea it wasn't allowed to receive nail polish from abroad. Seems we've just been very lucky when we have! I then went onto the USPS website to see and it says nail polish can't be mailed internationally full stop: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Does any one know anything about this? It's news to me! I really hope Llarowe will do something about it To add insult to injury I ordered from Franken Frosting at the same time, haven't received my package, and have had no response from them regarding the issue. Brilliant.

Re: US Parcel warning!
I have a single bottle of Color Club en route and the tracking info states:
Delivery Confirmation International
Restricted Delivery
It arrived in the UK yesterday morning.
So I guess that one's going up in smoke then!

I think we could contact them and cancel Sue as the despatch date hasn't arrived yet?

No, but I like to collect Dollish Polish. There are no UK suppliers of her brand.starrystarry wrote:Well yes but....none of us are likely to run short of polish any time soon are weshoppingaddict wrote:So in technical terms we're fucked then?!
