Royal Mail - On a Sunday?!
Haver just taken delivery of a recorded polish parcel (20 polishes, all cheapies) on a Sunday. Is this normal where you live? It was an official delivery van.

Most unusual...we're often lucky if we get post on a Saturday! I know they've done Sundays near Christmas ,but it seems a bit early for that...!

I wish ours would deliver on Sundays, I'm waiting for a Kipling bag from Amazon.

I've only ever known that to happen once, and that was the year there were severe delays because of snow.

We have had the occasional Sunday delivery at busy times, usually leading up to Xmas

Re: Royal Mail - On a Sunday?!
The van driver is very dodgy - he use to work for me until he nicked a £400 drill amongst other things (he happily admitted!). I didn't give a reference for the Royal Mail job, I didn't think it was fair on all the kiddies waiting for their birthday money from Auntie Joan. There was also only a 'whilst you were out' card to sign, no electronic thingie, and some random ununiformed (husband says it was probably his mate from the pub) came to the door whilst he stayed in the van. He claimed the electronic thingie wasn't working - this would have recorded that the delivery was made on a Sunday. But - he would have to have got the van from the depot? Or do they take the vans home?Sally Magpie wrote:that appears very dodgy

Seems a little odd to me Loola. Could you ring your local sorting office and ask whether it is standard practice to deliver on a Sunday?

Re: Royal Mail - On a Sunday?!
I just wondered if anyone else had had Sunday deliveries Baba, or if the postie was up to his old iffy tricks again . I think it's the latter now. I don't want to cause any trouble for the postie, he's what I call an honest crook - at least when he was rumbled for the thefts he didn't try to lie his way out of it and accepted his p45 graciously!

Re: Royal Mail - On a Sunday?!
Never had a Sunday delivery. My postie does turn up (or a version of him, we seem to have lost the regular bloke). Turns up anytime from 12pm to 6pm which I find odd.
If he has the van my guess is he had to sign it out so must be official - otherwise I'd think he had messed up in the week and was making up the time...?

Re: Royal Mail - On a Sunday?!
Husband has seen the van parked outside his house in the evenings, so maybe he does take it home. He also reckons that the postie went on the slash yesterday and is making up today. Sounds likely to me.ninjablossom wrote:Never had a Sunday delivery. My postie does turn up (or a version of him, we seem to have lost the regular bloke). I don't recall ever getting any postal deliveries on a Sunday. It definitely sounds like he was delivering on the sly to me.......

I hadn't thought of that! I think I'll ask him about his Sunday outing next time I see him. Hopefully soon, with more polish!!shoppingaddict wrote:Ditto in my town!! Don't they have trackers on anyway?!Laura wrote:Never had a Sunday delivery here and the vans are kept at the depot in town.
