Humph says it all really then.

Don't get me wrong I love MSE and it does help me, but seriously sometimes they get it wrong!

The mods should've known better than to try and get between ladies and their nail polish fix.

Too right! I worry about three things if our house set on fire ( other than my family)
1 - the dog
2 - my wedding photos
3 - my nail polishes

The BF dropped my document box with all 85 of my nail polishes in last night. My heart stopped.

I would threaten divorce. I have a helmer now, and it means there is no messing.

Other than when the bloody dog steals them and hides them.

I have to admit, after other people raving about the Helmers I bought one too! (btw, does anyone know where you can get drawer dividers that fit those?)
I use the excuse that the bottom three drawers are for paperwork, the rest just "happened" to be available for nail varnishes, stickers, stamper plates, etc etc

As I posted on the mse thread, I really am a bit taken aback that a change like that would just be shoved in hoping that no one would notice.
You gotta remember the site got sold somewhat, I guess there are changes in place, and i suspect due to who bought it (somewhat) that limiting links to "certain" sites would be beneficial, shall we say. BUT to be fair, without linking to almost all sites, it'd be pretty stuffed. Any section I can think of will have links put in, not all can be verified... Debt links, credit links, food stuff links, comp links, recommendation links and so on.

I was on Dawn Bibby's forum year ago and it got really stupid and lots of crafters (so erm well the definition of placid people really) got banned for just mentioning supplies she didn't sell. It was really stupid as everyone just left and set up their own forum.

How stupid is that?

About as stupid as stopping people posting links to blogs I think. It annoys me that they have eased the ban on twitter links, but not for us. But their loss, as I think we can have more conversation here.

To someone who was asking about inviting others above, ask away as far as I am concerned, the more the merrier!

I've had my say. If they are adamant that blogs open the forum up to spam then they need to block twitter as well. But they wont do that, because twitter posts in the compers section create revenue for the site I think.

Oooh, it's a first for me! My post on MSE has been deleted! Just because I said it was sad that they were effectively kicking us out... I still stand behind my words, although it needs to be said, I really like it here!!!

I had a few posts deleted on that thread last night, one explained how to circumvent the ban, the other questioned who'd be interested in joiging a dedicated forum

I was so hoping for a yellow card. I had one once before a few years ago for calling Freddie Snowbits a thieving twunt. Don't see where the problem was personally as I wasn't lying but MSE bods seemingly didn't agree hehe

In my experience forums tend to go downhill when the goal posts change - no matter how much of a following they have. I used to be a member of a MASSIVE horse forum (MSE sized!) which I used for about 5 years before they suddenly announced over night that they were going to charge £5 a month to be a member. About 75% of the forum members left and started a new one (which is now booming, hopefully like this one will!) and the old forum has been slowly limping along for the last year, surviving on the handful of subscriptions.

Well I think this forum is doing well! We've only been going a day though.

However disappointly MSE have taken the post with the link to here down which is a shame as other non regulars won't really know where we've gone!

Unfortunately i think the thread on MSE will die a slow death as most of the regulars will post on here now and i'm sure most of you cba to post the same stuff on both forums.
I found the MSE thread a few months ago and have been reading through it from the start (up to page 100 now) and have learnt a lot from you guys (gals lol)
I will finish working my way through it but it wont be the same without pics

They may well monitor PMs, but it's tough luck - if you send a link, the recipient will get it

Thus said, icanhascheezburger is trying to change to a new layout which almost everyone that comments doesn't like. They have been trying for months (you could revert back to the old format when it randomly forced you onto the new one) and have announced recently that we will go there, and can't go back. Some times in some of the ones I frequent, failblog, failbook, autocowreaks etc, seems like it's dead, comment wise now. Think people have kinda flown on.
