Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
Just spotted today Marie Claire is giving away a free bottle of Ciate full sized nail polish.
I got Sand Dune (totally counts as a no - buy, I ahve a lovely magazine with an added benefit lol)
There is 2 colours to choose from my my local Sainsburys only had Sand Dune will try and find out the other colour.
Sainsburys also do a special offer on premium magazines - buy 2 orange dot range and save £2 so technically you should be able to get both colours for £5.60 if you are lucky.

Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
They had both colours in Asda last night but I don't think I'd wear either of them so I restrained myself from buying

Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
What colours are they? I'm in town today so I might have a cheeky look in Sainsburies on my way back to the flat...
Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
I looked as well and they were a bit boring! I can't recall the names but one was a gold glitter, there other a pale pink. x
Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
Got the other colour today, pocket money. I quite like it- felt compelled to have it. Used Nectar points so zero spend, plus someone will think I am lovely when they get my magazine.

Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
Picked up the gold 'sand dune' today. Also comes with a 25ml tube of Jergens Ultra Healing moisturiser which is actually quite lovely. But good god is that magazine a load of shite.

It was the shite factor that prevented me from buying it Jane - polish or no polish
I've never seen so many regurgitated articles (I use the term loosely, 50 words and five pages of pics seems to be the best they can manage) and with the amount they must make on the advert overkill I'm surprised that they have the nerve to charge for the damn thing!

Wait, there are articles between the ads?
This made me laugh though.....far from encouraging me to buy lip pencils this model encouraged me only to turn the page quickly because she scared the bejesus out of me...

Surely that's not from a recent magazine Jane? It looks like something I used to see in Smash Hits in the 80s......

I'm not sure I'd be smiling if nobody could see my eyebrows anymore!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Jane wrote:That was my thoughts, its about page 6 of Marie Claire advertising lip pencils. At least smile.

Me too Babafette! I'm not sure what's hot and what's not any more, I thought Scousebrows were in, no nobrows. Totally out of touch, that's me! Someone will be telling me that my beloved shell suits are out of fashion next.............

YES!!! She does!!
I went out last weekend (rare occasion lately) to a local venue to see my sons band. As I sat on my stool taking in the fact that I owned underwear older than 3/4 of the clientele I was struck by this sudden sense of deja vu..... the 80's are most definitely back. Girls in stupid hats, big lightning bolt earrings, big curly hair, harem pants etc.
OH and I were discussing it the following day as I was perusing the rails in top shop (mostly to point and go 'ewwwww'), I think what sealed it was when they started playing Whitney's I wanna Dance With Somebody. We both looked at each other and burst out laughing.
Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
Oh my word Jane! I haven't been out past 9pm since ........well, it's multiple years! I keep thinking it's time to take in the nightlife again just for an odd night, I'd really like to see the 80s in action again I could dig out the Sun-in, my single diamante dangle earring, braces, dunghampers (what my Dad called my baggy keks), leather studded wristlets, electric purple eyeliner, Bristows hairspray and flash the one bra strap and I'd blend in perfectly by the sounds of things. Hell, I could even drink Taboo!!
I think my transition to Goth in the 90s was a shock reaction to the explosive often nauseating colour of the 80s
Do Goths still exist? or is Emo the new Goth, I've often wondered. It does seem acceptable to have a unique or unusual style now, something I think is a very good thing indeed. I am often asking my children why they would want to 'follow fashion' like a sheep, and encouraging them to accept that just because someone else or the media tells you it's 'what to wear', if it doesn't look right on you, just don't. My 9 year old daughter is already having to learn to dress for her shape - she's really tiny, almost the same height as her 6 year old sister and weighs much less than her too. She gets that for example sloppy tops hang off her and to go for skinny fit. Jeez, I wish I had that problem!!!!!

Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
The new '80's thing makes my skin crawl... 10 year old kids wearing disco pants = NO!
Goth is definitely still around but less common. Emo is out now, it's called Hipster these days - lots of bracelets, side fringe, overly straightened hair, ombre hair in weird colours, baggy band t shirts that split up before the wearer was even born (The Smiths is popular). Basically, everything they're not

Oh blimey kissmeknow, I've never heard of hipster - I did say I was out of touch! I nearly wet my pants laughing when the Radio One DJ started talking about Bounce & Donk, I thought it sounded more Tracey Cox than Sara Cox

Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
Haha. Oh god that pic and the subsequent comments had me giggling out loud. Feeling a bit gloomy this mornign and this has all cheered me up no end - thanks.
Goth is alive and well - at least in Whitby where we are going in a fortnight - I'm not a goth I just enjoy the excuse to dress up!
I'm far too podgy for all my 80s stuff now or I'd happily go for that as well for a bit of fun.
I used to care that I 'fitted in' when I was IN the 80s (and my 20s). At 46 I really don't, and I have bright blue hair to prove it.
What or who on earth is Bounce and Donk?
I'm so far out of touch I feel the world has gone round and is catching me up;)

Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
Yeah goths definitely still exist, because they've just made it a hate crime if you attack one or something haven't they? Haven't heard of these hipsters...I'm sure those were trousers when I was little lol.

Manchester police (I think its them anyway) have extended hate crime to encompass minority groups - goths being the one the papers keep going on about but its actually much wider than that. OH says he gets to be one too as he's probably waht the papers described as a 'metaler' LOL. That's when he's not dressing like a minority of one - half way between goth and metal to go to Whitby.

Re: Marie Claire Ciate Freebie
I still get classed as a goth now I have VERY dark hair naturally so it does look almost black, add to that my facial piercings and my slightly thrown together dress sense and I can sort of understand why.
A few years ago I had a fringe put in and was stopped coming out of the Doctors by an old fella who said he thought I was Chrissie Hynde

lol, I bought one on Saturday and I've not even opened the magazine - doubt I will! The hand cream is lovely; I got the 'Pocket Money' polish which is a nudey-pink. My hubby said it looked like cat poo; I don't think it's that bad, I'll swatch it this week maybe.
