Is that a crackle/shatter you used on top? If so which one as the one i use results in much finer lines

Yup it's a Barry M one. The reason it crackled so thickly is because it's gone really horrible thick. Not sure if thinner will work as its a crackle polish....
Re: Rainbow Week
I do like crackles because i find if the colour underneath isnt perfect, the crackle sort of hides imperfections
And if a bit chips off i just patch it up with the base colour then the crackle on top and it looks good as new again
It saves removing the whole lot and starting again, is that cheating? lol

Re: Rainbow Week
I like the splatter, its an interesting technique i've not tried yet.
Is it ok to cheat and post a couple of pics from a few weeks ago that would fit into the 'Rainbow' category?

Re: Rainbow Week
With a lot of mess. lol
I did a base coat of white. The spatter colours are blue, orange, green and pink. Dab some polish of the bottle onto a paper plate or something. I tried dabbing a straw in but it didn't work so used an empty bic biro. Dab the small end into the polish, position over the nail and blow through the big end (oh errr Mrs!!!). Have to say my best spatters ended up on the kitchen towel but it was fun to do as you dont have to be precise.

Re: Rainbow Week
That splatter is really quite nice! Reminds me of the giant gobstoppers that looked like that.

Ooh taht's fab. Is it really bad to just copy? I really want to try that!
I used to paint pictures like that as a kid in the back garden, I'm thinking the back garden might be the place to do this!

Re: Rainbow Week
To be fair I did have some kitchen towel down and the best spatters seemed to miss my nails and end up on that. Its not that messy really just make sure your fingers are taped up.
As for copying - go for it. Was really fun to do.

Re: Rainbow Week
I've found vaseline easier than taping up for 'messy' nail art if any one else finds the tape fiddly/restricting x
