Polish Postage Costs Empty Polish Postage Costs

Post  Babafette Sat Mar 09, 2013 4:06 am

Hello ladies, I'm just after some advice really.

I've just bought three bottles of OPI from a UK seller on eBay. Does anyone have any idea how much they will cost to post first class as I think the seller may be overcharging me. Neutral

Thanks.

I'd guess £2.70 for 3 bottles, that wont include the packaging though so maybe they are charging for the padded envelope also.

Thanks Jasmina, that's roughly what I thought plus maybe 30p for an envelope, but the seller is asking for £4.97........ pale

Depends how desperately you want the polish I guess, unless that is the cost of adding postal insurance on, think it is about 95p
Recorded delivery is a lot more but the seller should advise that is the service they are using.

That does seem a bit much then, depends if you are happy with the total price?
It annoys me when people make money on the postage, but then again ebay are to blame really for charging such high fees Neutral

Polish Postage Costs Empty Re: Polish Postage Costs

I just paid £3.15 postage for 1 polish - 2nd recorded but I kinda assumed they were marking up the post, the polish was £6 for a new Colour Club Harp on it, so I'll suck up the postage cost.

Annoying this is they combine for other purchases so I bid on another one that ended a 1 min before this one and I got out bid with seconds to go - which might not have been a bad thing, I could have got very carried away!

The thing is its not about the weight so much, its the thickness. If its thicker than a dvd the cheapest you can send it is £2.20 2nd class (£2.70 1st)
It needs to fit through an average letterbox to go as large letter 90p/70p

I saw a link on the eBay forum on MSE. Some parcels are jumping from £2 odd to £5 odd!! Really bizarre pricing now.

OMG do they want to be in business? Ah well I am fairly sure their competitors will step up to offer a cheaper solution.
Think the Royal Mail hate my nail polish addiction, first the drama over international postage and now this.
Ebay nail polish bundles are going to be harder to justify now.

They seem to be wanting to do themselves out of the 'parcel' market altogether and just stick with stuff that will fit through a letterbox.
Suppose i cant blame them really but i think ebay will suffer in the long run, you cant really post anything by courier for less than £4 ish,
who is going to pay that for one polish that is a bit too fat to fit through a letterbox?

Royal Mail postage costs are getting ridiculous. Mad I only paid £1.37 shipping for the last polish I bought from the US!

I politely emailed the seller this evening to enquire whether the postage cost could be reduced at all and whether she would be willing to post second class.

I can't believe the response I received - I'm very shocked. Shocked I am not going to reply tonight as I need to calm down a bit. Neutral
