They are just stunning!carter0268 wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Butterfly wing nails - these took ages but I LOVE them! Used 3 of the gorgeous Color club neons I got from TK Maxx. Not a look I can wear for work but I'm on holiday YAY! lol
Sadly I know I would not have the patience to do the gradient or the stamping

Re: What are you wearing today?
Thank you - I can never get this stamp to come out very well so have to go over a lot of it with a fine brush - that's the time consuming bit!
The gradient is quick and easy Sue - its the clean up that takes a while lol. I just use a chopped off bit of kitchen sponge (off the back of the scourer kind) - making it damp first is the secret. I couldn't get a good result before I read a tip to do that. Makes so much difference! A small piece of sponge = less cleanup xx

I've never heard that tip before carter, what difference does the damp sponge make? Does it blend it better?carter0268 wrote:Thank you - I can never get this stamp to come out very well so have to go over a lot of it with a fine brush - that's the time consuming bit!

Your butterfly nails are gorgeous. I've got that plate but I've only used it on accent nails so far, I don't think I'd have the energy to do all ten.

Re: What are you wearing today?
For the first time ever a mani has stayed on over night (except for a little tip wear) so I put a glitter over the top. Both are from Claire's - one is a purple/gold almost-duochrome, the other is a holo and pink glitter. I didn't think it would look so good but the holo-ness was really WOW. I don't know if it was the glitter or if the purple made it stand out, but I couldn't stop looking at my nails all day.
Some unflattering pics:

And blurry thumb to show the holo:

That purple holo is pretty
I decided I'd try out one of my new China Glaze jellies and make a stampy sandwich. Please excuse my nasty cuticles, I went a bit haywire with a v-trimmer
I really like the colour:

Those look really fantastic!
Re: What are you wearing today?
I started using a damp sponge a bit back and it really does make a difference. It might be that less polish soaks into the sponge, so the polish stays on the surface of the sponge and blends better. Damping the sponge also seems to stop the polish breaking the sponge down before you finish your mani - that always used to happen to me when I used a dry sponge and I'd end up with bits of sponge stuck on my nails. ugh!starrystarry wrote:

Ooh I think I might want that! I really want a proper bright red linear holo that isn't see through. I have a hits one but its just not quite right.
That's not linear is it? But its the closest I've seen to what I'm imagining.

Re: What are you wearing today?
It's not linear no, it's sparkle holo glitter set in a red jelly so it's super-rich. I won it from Sally Magpies! Here's the blog post I did if you want a better idea of the polish:

I'm naked, really into stamping at the moment but I'm running out of colour combos with the few polishes I've got that'll stamp!

I agree, it makes a huge difference with the ease of blending. I didn't have much success at all before I read that tip somewhere. Makes blending almost effortless lol.

Re: What are you wearing today?
Thanks to both of you, I'll be trying that next time I do a gradient. My nemo gradient is coming off tonight, the index finger has chipped. Can't grumble though, it's been on since Saturday.carter0268 wrote:Thank you Fellrunnerfellrunner wrote:I started using a damp sponge a bit back and it really does make a difference.
