Meet Charlie....

As some of you know we had a horrible week last week. My Dad died 5 years ago leaving Mum and her dog, a shih tzu called leo. Leo was 13 and had started to suffer terribly with arthritis, last week Mum took the awful decision to have him put to sleep and out of his constant pain. She was devastated. He's been her life since Dad died, she doted on him and her days were all for him - walking, grooming, even someone to talk to.
She's been very upset all week and I had tentatively broached the subject of another Pup but she was worried that at 76 she'd outlive the dog. Well she's fit, very active and I promised if she couldn't look after a dog for whatever reason I would look after it for her. Today I took her to meet some little Shih Tzu's and this time next week she picks up this little fella...

Her mood has already improved, she's eaten more today than I've seen her eat in a week and she's happily planning for his arrival.

I owe you a thanks actually sal, you sent me a link to a local shih tzu for rehoming, I'd not come across that site before but that was where the pups were being advertised.

I'll get some better slr pictures when he comes home next weekend

He was trying to work me out at that stage I think, ten minutes later he was wriggling on his back biting my fingers, he's a little sod. He'll certainly keep her on her toes.

Don't let that face fool you, he's a little sod. We picked him up yesterday and Mum is over the moon with him. So far he's attacked the brush with vigour, had a stand off with his own reflection in the oven door and chased Ellie all around the yard. He's a real little character. I don't think he'll be as impressed with me tomorrow when I take him to the vets for his first jabs though
