Shopping confession
I should have known this forum would be bad for me! Popped into a couple of shops on the way home to see if the Essence counters had been restocked yet (they've been a bit empty for a couple of weeks). They had been...
So I bought:
Essence Nail Colour 3 in "ticket to the show/front row or backstage" (and blackish/copper one I wanted) and "kiss on top of the rock/dancing in the street" (red/orange)
Essence "blue addicted" x 2 (last ones left! not sure they'll be restocked...)
New Essence glitter topper - "mrs and mr", and a shimmery colour called "space queen"
Catrice "After Eight" and "Steel my Heart"
So much fun playing this weekend!

Re: Shopping confession
Everything costs twice as much as everywhere else. I was in Geneva for a few weeks on placement and the only place we could afford alcohol was the CERN bar lol. We made good use of it...
Re: Shopping confession
I do buy OPI's, but they aren't my favourite.
I couldn't live without China Glaze though.
You are lucky having Essence, but I understand your pain about the prices of others.

Re: Shopping confession
Lady S, My favourites are actually Orly and Nails Inc, but I can’t find those at all here
I haven’t actually got any China Glaze – not sure I’ve ever tried any?! There is a department store here that sells them though, they have a huuuuuuge display, but they’re @ £18 each!!! There are some amazing colours though – I’m building up a wish list from looking at this forum and MSE, so might have to get some China Glaze delivered to my parents/friends next time I’m back in UK.
Delivery here is awkward – lots of independent people won’t do it, and I have to be very careful of customs limits and charges.
Sam: Cern bar, not tried there! Good tip For every day stuff here it’s not too bad, as I’m here full time, so on a swiss pay deal – but little luxuries like nice nail polish are just silly prices even then.

Re: Shopping confession
£18? That is ridiculous... I paid £8 for the first ones I got, and that's too much! I don't think you can get into CERN unless you work there unfortunately lol, but it was only 3.50F for a glass of your wine and you poured them yourself (and so obviously filled them right to the top). Good times lol.
Re: Shopping confession

Rally Pretty Pink
the other is
Come to Poppy (it should have been red shatter but I am glad it isnt)
W7 three for £5.99 they had sets of 5 for £9.99
no names but I am 100% they are part of the Planets set and the one that flashes blue is actually purpley (stupid camera)
They had three packs of Nails Inc crackle for £11.99 as well but I resisted
and a three pack of OPI with a shatter for £14.99 and another couple of OPI two packs for £9.99 but they had green in
and Models Own three packs for £7.99 again out of the three I would have chosen two so didnt bother

Re: Shopping confession
I got home last night to find my order from ebay had arrived – I haven’t used ebay since I moved to Switzerland, but got it all changed over and did a bit of hunting for someone who would ship to Switzerland, and ended up ordering a few polishes from a seller to try out. They arrived very quickly, perfectly packaged, and no customs issues, phew!
So I now have:
- Orly Miss Conduct
- Opi Every Month is Octoberfest
- China Glaze Rare & Radiant
- China Glaze Swanky Silk
- China Glaze Want My Bawdy
My favourite is definitely the Orly – I put it on all my fingers last night and can’t stop looking at it. I love Orly polishes in general, and this is as no exception. I haven’t got a top coat on yet (want to stamp, but didn’t have time last night), but it currently looks half-way between a dense glitter and a shimmer polish. Completely smooth finish though.
I also loooove all the others, and I’m very impressed by the formulas on the China Glaze (which I wanted to try after rave reviews from Lady S ). China Glaze Want My Bawdy looked awesome beside Orly Miss Conduct (I immediately put one of each colour on a different finger when I opened the package, as you do ) – very 80’s disco! Next 80’s night I’ll have to do something creative with these two And the names work so well together too
Anyway, before I got home I popped into the supermarket, and picked up a few cheap polishes as well, oops…
- The 3 glitters in the Essence Snow White range (Prince Charming, Evil Queen and The Huntsman I think?)
- Catrice Copper Cabana – quite a dark copper, but I don’t have anything like it, it’s kind of metallic burnt orangey.
I also bought a few polishes while back in the UK last weekend, which I’ll confess to separately

Re: Shopping confession
The Orly Miss Conduct is gorgeous, I think I'll add it to my wishlist. I have Orly Witch's Blue on at the moment, but I must confess I found it really difficult to apply - it's the only Orly polish I own and I've never made such a mess when painting my nails!

shoppingaddict wrote:Wow that Miss Conduct is gorgeous!!! Where can I buy it!!
I know, it’s lush! Probably my new favourite polish (previously it was a tie between Orly Ingenue and Orly Rock-it. Yes, I loooooove Orly). It’s so disco… Aaah, can’t stop staring at my nails. Great coverage in 2 coats too, and really shiny – it doesn’t have a top coat, but looks like it does.
It’s in their “Holiday 2012 - Naughty or Nice" collection, so it’s a bit odd it’s out now, but seems to have been available in the US for a couple of months. I got it from a US ebay seller (delivery time is the same for me from US or UK so I look at US a lot) – there seem to be quite a few ebay sellers with it either singly or in the collection pack. I think I used MissSaigon98 or something similar – I can’t check ebay from this computer (at work)

Some of the Orly polishes do seem to be a little runny and can flood cuticles - I left my Rock-it open for a while which made it quite a bit better.
Witch's blue looks nice too - Hmm, if I hadn't just got a blue China Glaze I think i'd have been hunting that!
