Nail art foil glue
Ladies
I bought some nail art foils from eBay but I've since discovered that you need a special glue to apply it. The glue is about £3 on eBay so no biggy, but does anyone know what it actually is?!

Yes it's weird stuff. Kind of like a thin PVA glue. It goes on a sort of milky white colour then dries clear. You're supposed to wait until it goes clear before you put the foil on. I've got a small bottle of it for when I occasionally use foils, which I haven't done for yonks. Wouldn't be surprised if mine has dried up.
I don't know whether PVA glue would work, might be worth a try.

Re: Nail art foil glue
I thought about it but pva doesn't stay tacky for very long, not long enough I don't think.
Re: Nail art foil glue
No I don't think PVA would work. The foil glue stuff when it "dries" still stays sticky like indefinitely. Not a clue what it is though sorry!
Re: Nail art foil glue
I have heard the Picture polish revolution makes a great topcoat for foils. Normal topcoats tend to ruin the foils, making them wrinkle.

Re: Nail art foil glue
I have Revolution and I have foils, I could try it and see what happens (and how long it lasts because Revolution isn't properly a polish).

Ooh so do I and I don't use the foils as they seem to get wrecked so fast. I may have to try this too & will report back.
won't be for a while though. too hot to polish again.

Would one of these make an OK starter set? Or am I better off buying individually from eBay. (I'm determined to get some use out of that Revolution..........!)

Re: Nail art foil glue
I bought all mine from Nail Delights, I think they're £2.15 apiece and you get a deal on the glue when you buy them. I did try with Revolution and it worked!! But I need major practise in applying foil as a full-cover mani which is why I don't have pics
Re: Nail art foil glue
I got my first lot from an FB swap page, then I think I went to nail delights too for the glue and a few more rolls.

How long does it take to master the technique? I think it looks awesome but I am impatient.

It's really easy! I wanted to use foil in a specific design but I practised first thinking it'd be difficult but it was surprisingly easy!

Trust me, you won't regret it! But if you want to see it done and how easy it is just watch some robin moses videos on youtube where she uses it and you'll get loads of tips!
Re: Nail art foil glue
It really is easy - just don't get impatient, make sure the glue's completely clear before you apply the foil!
Re: Nail art foil glue
Well I've done my first set. I wanted contrasting colours but I think colours definitely need to be similar. Unfortunately I didn't take any piccies after I'd done. I did them last night and I've just taken the picture.

As you can see they didn't last long!!!!
Will be removed tonight.

Re: Nail art foil glue
Did you topcoat them? They really won't last without it!
Also, if you get any little gaps when you apply the foil, you can just dab over it with another bit of foil (as long as you're using a plain foil like this!)

Re: Nail art foil glue
No I didn't Sam. I heard that they would wrinkle and look strange with top coat on.
I will experiment however! Only my first attempt!

Do you still have your Revolution SA? It's supposed to be great as a foil topcoat.

Re: Nail art foil glue
Is the glue the same sort of stuff (size I think it's called) that is used when you gold or silver leaf something in craft projects?
