False nails
The OH has got another couple of photo shoots coming up and has tasked me with coming up with some nail designs.
So Im after full nail false nails of varying lengths that I can just stick on with sticky pads. Does anyone know of any decent suppliers. I've looked on ebay and can get them on there but just wondered if anybody knew of anywhere better.
Also I'm planning on sticking stuff onto the nails (not just painting them), any ideas what would be the best glue to use ie superglue or normal nail glue or something else.
Thanks ladies

Re: False nails
If you're planning on putting them on the skin - even for a short time, you'll have to use nail glue and not superglue. It has to be skin safe.
Im sorry, I can't help with sourcing the full cover nails - but what an exciting project!

Hi starry
Essentially, all adhesives are based on the same thing - cyanoacrylate. This just means acrylic resin. However, there are a few types: methyl, ethyl, n-butyl and 2-octyl. The last two are used in surgeries, veterinary uses, etc.
Most superglues such as household, named superglue and, for example, CND gelbond are ethyl cyanoacrylate. However, there will always be important differences in formulations from brand to brand. I know that the CND adhesive is medical grade and therefore safe for use near or on the body; I don't know that of superglue.
The reason that you must use adhesive that is tested for skin use is because the chemicals in the glue can produce a dangerously intense exothermic, or heat, reaction. There have been stories of people who have used them incorrectly who have ended up badly burnt. There is the risk that generic superglue on the skin can cause this reaction to be worse.

Re: False nails
The false nail will be stuck to the real nail with a nail sticker thingy. What Im after is can I use superglue to stick an item to the false nail. So the superglue wouldnt be near the real nail or skin at all. So would the same rules apply?
Thank you for the info.

Re: False nails
When using pure pigments we only use those which are safe to use near the skin. I'd suggest you do the same with your nails, whether the glue goes directly on the nails or not.backhoe71 wrote:The false nail will be stuck to the real nail with a nail sticker thingy. It is, ultimately, of course your choice. But it's better to keep yourself right.

Re: False nails
Thank you linzi that really helps. As bizarre as it sounds I will be be sticking chains, false flowers and all sorts to the nails so its good to know whats safe. Will stick with the nail glue as suggested.
