Re: What's On Your Mind?
Yes, best of luck with the interview Geordie. When is it?
I was just having a lovely cuddle with my neighbour's cat but it disappeared when I had to go and answer the door to sign for OH's parcel.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
I can see why some people wouldn't like it, the idea in itself sounds daft but I just thought it was beautifully done and I think some parts affect you more if you've had kids ( not wishing to sound rude to those who don't !)ninjablossom wrote:I didn't like About Time :(I was very vocal of my dislike - but I know loads of peeps who loved it not sure what I was missing.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Thank you!! It's next Tuesday. I have a short IT test before the interview so I think I'll find some quick MS Office refreshers online, it's been 11-12 years since I did my GNVQ ICT
Re: What's On Your Mind?
I think I just found it very Richard Curtis....and not my taste but my friend loved it and he has a kid.
So the spain thing... mate calls all sorry, has to cancel has a new contract (it contractor) can we do another weekend as they want him to start Thursday. I'm annoyed. Later yesterday he states he can fly out Thursday evening as the new role only needs him on Thursday for a meeting and doesn't care if he has Friday/Monday off work. Really??
So he has just changed his flight and I get the email as I booked the original. He is on a 1750 flight. Check in closes at 1650 - say 30 mins for security. He lives 90 mins away from the airport. Cutting it close he needs to leave (presuming he is going suited and booted from said important meeting, 1500 at the very latest)
So the new job is allowing him to turn up for a very important meeting, leave work early and feck off for a few days. Does that sound right? I've worked with IT contractors and that doesn't sound right.
pissed off is not even close.

That's drivable though, I used to live there for uni and it's not too bad or too hard to get to.Laura wrote:One of my best friends is moving to Wales in 2 weeks... fucking gutted
My best mate is moving to Australia next year, a country I refused long ago to ever visit...

Tonight I think I am going to try doing my first Halloween manicure. I feel very daft about celebrating Halloween 18 days before the fact so am keeping it simple

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Neath? Really? What a strange place to move to lol. Well it's not to bad to get to anyway Takes us about 4.5 hours from Maidstone to Swansea, and Neath's probably about 20-30 minutes closer. And there's a direct train from London Paddington.
Re: What's On Your Mind?
Lol well she wants to be near her parents and it all depended on where the houses were (council properties) but I don't think she was really fussy about the area as long as the house is OK
I'm betting the train costs a fucking fortune

Re: What's On Your Mind?
£275? What the heck? Lol. I think Maidstone to Swansea is something like £80 return, but has to be Super Off-Peak otherwise it costs silly money. And normally the FGW train either gets cancelled, breaks down, or can't get all the way to Swansea because there's water/leaves/sunlight on the tracks. Oh how I love trains!
Nothing wrong with Neath btw, there's just not a lot there lol (apart from my Dad's work )

Re: What's On Your Mind?
I went to a faith school and am divided over them. I think there are serious moral issues with pushing a religion onto schoolchildren but the discipline and academic standards were fantastic and the religious aspect did make me do a lot of philosophising about beliefs and morals.Babafette wrote:I'm sat here having to listen to OH and his friend have an argument about faith schools.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
My teacher training was all in Catholic schools. I have a few issues with them - not least that neither of the schools taught sex ed. I think it's perfectly possible to have the same standards in a non-denominational schools. Frankly, and I really don't mean to offend anyone, but I don't think religion has any place in education (obviously I don't mean you shouldn't learn about religion, just that you shouldn't be taught everything with a religious slant). I mean I was teaching physics, so teaching the big bang when you're not allowed to say that the big bang is probably what happened is pretty tricky. And I observed a religious studies lesson about afterlife, and the teacher had asked the class what they think happens after death. One of the kids said he believed in ghosts, and the teacher basically told him not to be such an idiot and that clearly ghosts don't exist. Probably more of a case of the teacher being a **** than catholic though.
I went to a typical mixed comprehensive school. We had an amazing religious studies teacher (who refused to tell us her religion when asked because she didn't want to influence us) and we used to do lots of visualisations, which were sort of meditation-type things. Plenty of spirituality and philosophising without being told which particular beliefs you need to have.
Sorry if I've ranted
