Re: What's On Your Mind?
Oh yeah sex education was a major issue to. For ours they got a real, practising Christian doctor who refused to endorse contraception or anything premarital-sex-related as it went against his personal beliefs. The only reason I turned out alright is I discovered channel 4's sex education shows! Also in science, whenever the big bang or evolution was mentioned the teacher had to counteract it by saying they are "just theories" and talking about creationism as the alternative. Is that similar to what you had?
Re: What's On Your Mind?
Yep pretty much! Except there wasn't even a Christian doctor saying don't use contraception, there was just nothing. Apart from a massive pile of condoms in the staff room that the school were given to give the kids and refused to.
The chaplain in the first school was funny though. He told us he just used to tell them (out of earshot of anyone else) to put something on the end of it lol.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
I went to a church primary school, it was bollocks. I made up my mind about "god" at a very early age, he doesn't exist and even as a 7 year old I didn't appreciate having to pray and sing hymns every morning, and go to church every Thursday!
And don't forget Ash Wednesday when we had a fucking dirty mark smudged on our foreheads and were told to REPENT OUR SINSSSS

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Just got a phone call from Virgin Holidays to say to hotel we booked for our honeymoon is unavailable. Just going to go curl up in a corner and cry.

Don't cry Sam! Everything happens for a reason, you will find an even better hotel. Where are you going?Sam wrote:Just got a phone call from Virgin Holidays to say to hotel we booked for our honeymoon is unavailable. Just going to go curl up in a corner and cry.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Noooo there is no better hotel Going to the Big Island in Hawaii. Were going to stay in the Fairmont Orchid, where they have like a spa on the beach, and turtles and general beautifulness. The lady said when I booked it that they request the room from the hotel, so when I got my booking confirmation it might say "Requested" on the hotel bit. She said they never have any problems, but there is a very small chance that the particular type of room we requested might not be available. She did not say the hotel might say an outright no to that or any other rooms
I'm feeling very sorry for myself, and I don't even have any wine or chocolate.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
I know it must seem like a massive deal at the moment Sam, but you'll be getting married to the man you love and you actually probably won't care where you spend your honeymoon in the end. I'm sure everything will work out OK. Sending you a hug and some virtual chocolate!

Re: What's On Your Mind?
One side effect of being in a bad way with depression is that I've been wanting to remove my manicure, cut my nails and review some water decals for about 4 days now and haven't had the energy to do any of it. My nails have actually grown over a millimetre in the time I've been putting it off
Re: What's On Your Mind?
I know what you mean Geordie. I've not touched my nails since last weekend. One of my thumbnails has had a huge chip in it for three days and I've done nothing about it. I'd be ashamed if I had the energy to be. And I don't think I'm actually depressed, just stressed. Must do something about them tomorrow.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
I find painting nails quite soothing. I did it the other night just because I was so flipping worked up. Didn't even care what they looked like, I just find the action of it soothing lol.
Re: What's On Your Mind?
Fingers crossed the honeymoon's going to be alright though! Sounds like it's just a case of the hotel not showing up as available yet because it's too far in advance, rather than being rejected. Touch wood...
Re: What's On Your Mind?
That's good news Sam, I hope everything works out OK.
I'm currently crapping myself about the big storm which is heading our way. We're right on the South West coast so will probably get the full force of it.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
I'm a little nervous about whats coming. I'm in East Anglia and we are meant to get it quite bad as well, but probably after you. Sometime in the early hours. Good luck and make sure you keep in touch. xxx
Re: What's On Your Mind?
Thanks shoppingaddict, I hope it doesn't get too bad where you are. We've got heavy rain at the moment but the storm is supposed to peak here at between midnight and 2am. We are on a hill and are surrounded by trees so OH wants to stay up and alert.

Re: What's On Your Mind?
Don't think it's just down south we're having issues...My OH is in the North Sea at the moment (always pleasant in winter...) and said another ship has just blown into their ship...oops.
Re: What's On Your Mind?
Oh my god, was everyone alright? I'm in the North East and was hoping this was just a southern thing at least my house is on a hill.Sam wrote:Don't think it's just down south we're having issues...My OH is in the North Sea at the moment (always pleasant in winter...) and said another ship has just blown into their ship...oops.
