Had an email this morning from Nails Inc re their new Snowflake Effect polish. I like the sound of that but I want to see what it looks like before I buy it. Helpfully, they've put a video on their website. Unhelpfully, it doesn't show the polish at all. They've layered it over a pale colour and not bothered to do any close ups. Which suggests to me it's a bit rubbish, like many of the NI special effect polishes. Has anyone seen it swatched over darker colours?

Sorry Starry, the only decent pic I could find so far was this one.  It's done on a clear tip:

I got an email about it earlier and their pics aren't close up and on light colours too.

Thanks Tatty. I think I'll wait a couple of weeks, see if there's any better swatches available then.

Illamasqua is bringing out a small new collection which includes 2 polishes. Fusion is the gold colour & Perseid looks really nice, I might use my Debenhams beauty club points to get it Smile
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Now, this looks interesting. Although I'm not sure I'd pay £50 for it (if that is how much it's going to be):

I found a swatch of Perseid & don't like it anywhere enar as much as in the bottle. It's all lumpy looking.
the Ciate nail lab though - Oh dear I think I want one, its like the perfume kit I had as a kid! I want bigger pics though & can't fimn any.

I reckon by the time the Ciate lab gets in to shops over here, there'll be several cheaper imitations to choose from Smile Not feeling the new Illamasquas much, I agree that they look good in the bottles but I've not yet found an amazing Illamasqua polish. In fact they go on my cold list.....
Current Colds:
Ciate, Illamasqua, Barry M, Rimmel, Revlon, Models Own, Hare, NOPI, Bourjois, Nails Inc, Layla Ceramic/Holo/Gel, Kiko, textures, mylar

Warm:
Zoya, OPI, Dollish, Smitten, Sparitual, Indigo Bananas, Emily de M, I love Layla, Layla Transparente, Frenz, Color Club, China Glaze, layering polishes

Hotties:
Inglot, Deborah Lippmann, NFU Oh, Femme Fatale, Ninja's own although seemingly permanently OOS, real flakies,

That's a very brief overview and insight into the large polish compartment in my very small brain Laughing
Anybody else up for sharing their current hotso and notso brands?

What have Barry M done to end up on your bad list Loola? I agree about Illamasqua though - I bought two of the speckly ones when they were half price, and I've never known a polish to chip like it!

That Ciate nail lab does look fun, but £50 is ridiculous (as you'd expect from Ciate of course). Has anyone checked out Mica Moma franken kits if they're interested in having a go at making their own? I was sent some stuff to review and it was good fun Smile

I've just contacted them to ask them if they'd send me just a small packet of 10 mixing balls for less than their standard £3.50 postage and they've said no:( The kits do look fab - I may put one on my Christmas list!

I think I'm just tired of Barry M's eternal rarely updated standard range Sam. I've started to think of them as Barry Mundane. Sure there are a few oddities, but the sequin polish - well. Textures aren't exactly groundbreaking and their flakie was MO style mylar. The gellys are OK I guess, but they're sticking to what others have done before them. Gimme some nuts, Barry.....Laughing

Haha I see what you you're saying Loola, I always look through the Barry M's when I'm in Superdrug but...er...I already have all the colours I like. They are good for your basic colours though, but yeah not particularly exciting.

Sorry HanSpan, I replied to your other post before seeing this! That is a shame, since presumably the £3.50 is based on a parcel, and you could probably stick the balls in an envelope Sad

Some new collections from China Glaze for the new year!
Crinkle Chrome looks weird, kinda like when you apply polish too thick and it dries funny.  Looks a bit gritty too:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Sea Goddess is a pastel sand collection. There's a couple of colours here I like the look of:

Now, I think this is already available in America, but I really hope it makes an appearance here soon! I love you

Gelaze is a 100% gel polish with a built-in base coat. It can be cured under both LED or UV lamps and it can be removed by soaking or wrapping in acetone. They’re launching with 36 shades & 3 treatments.  I'm happy that Turned Up Turquoise & Fairy Dust are there!

Not keen on the Chrome ones, it looks like polish that got smudged and bubbled and was left to dry! The other ones look alright. But it's like most other textured polish that's been around for a while, tho these might be a nicer set of colours e.g. the mint and purple-y one

Those 'crinkle chromes' are gross. It's shocking that any company, let alone one so big in the polish world, would think they are acceptable to sell.

china glaze quality has gone way down, but people still buy em so they will still keep producing crap products. People stop buying them, they might have to up their game a bit. Same as Nails Inc. Its Emperor's new clothes syndrome Sad

Yeah I think you have a point ninjablossom. I really thought the 'texture' thing was just a passing phase, much like velvet manicure etc but it's like it's not going away. It's quite surprising to me because apart from the odd swatch or buying it for fun, I don't see anyone wearing textured (the concrete, gritty looking types) in real life. Yet they keep making more of it. I mean this is for a 2014 collection, so I guess it's not going anywhere
